Mike Anthony Named New Public Information Officer
April 27, 2007
County Attorney Andrew Thomas announced today that Mike Anthony has been appointed as Public Information Officer for the County Attorney’s Office and will assume his new duties effective May 7, 2007.
For nearly 20 years Anthony has been a part of Arizona news reporting in various capacities. Most recently, Anthony was a News Director at KTAR Radio. Previously, Anthony served as News Director for seven years at KFYI Radio... Anthony will be the chief contact within the MCAO for media inquiries and news distribution.
I'm guessing it was a "parting of the ways" on news philosophy. M.A. probably tried to bring his KFYI news style (more lifestyle news, less police-fire-courts) to KTAR, but they're still doing the same news stories they've always done. Just judging from their newscasts now vs. a year ago (I think he moved to KTAR last June or July), I'd guess he tried to implement changes and was resisted by upper management.
