Mike Changed Their Processing?

Am I the only one who has noticed that some time in the last couple weeks, Mike 93.7 has cut back on their processing? It's not a major change, but definitely noticeable. I actually find it more listenable, although I do rather miss their old 'big' and loud signature sound.

Any idea on why they did this? It seems to me that having a high TSL isn't really a goal of theirs anyway, so having thick processing shouldn't really have been much of a negative...<P ID="signature">______________

I hadn't personally noticed the processing, but I'd thought the music on Mike sounded especially awful once the station started off. The processing sounded like it was set for WQSX to air loud dance music, which the station rarely aired. The sound was definately unique, but the processing simply wasn't fitting the music.

What I have noticed is that the signal has become worse here in MetroWest over the last few weeks. In Framingham, my car radio has recently been scanning past 93.7, but still picks up 93.3 and 94.1 in the same way that it always has. Perhaps it's IBOC from 94.5 that's screwing it up?

Definitely more "listenable". It sounded harsh before. The exaggerated high end used to make any multipath distortion worse when driving around Boston and the suburbs.

I noticed it today, and I also notice it more in the dance-kind of hits than the rock hits. It is more listenable, however, and may be a tweak as a result of their recent boost in the fall Arbs. Even though it wasn't that much of a boost, they're gaining listeners slowly.
