Mike Felger Leaving ESPN AM 890 & 1400

Somebody has to read the Saturday papers, and so it happened that I saw a small item in both the Boston Globe and the Chicopee Herald that Mike Felger will be saying "sayonara, adios, hasta la vista" to ESPN 890 and 1400 to write for weei.com's revamped (can it be RE-vamped if it was never VAMPED?) website. So the J-Sport powerhouse may have to resort to nationally syndicated fare in PM drive.

Its a no brianer for Felgy or EEI! They were a good fit before and they will be fine as soon as Felger takes his "I told you so" lashings from Big O!

Plus EEI.com vamped or revamped but them adding Felger and Bradford will surely change the web traffic towards Weei.com! I look forward to it cause I go on everyday to stream at work. Now I can read two of my favorite insiders there as well. God I sound like a J-Wolfe mouthpiece!! ;D

good... now maybe they can have a Big Show without LJ although Scott's page seems to indicate he won't be on that show.

Kevin Winter is an underrated talent. He does a great job on ESPN and did on WWZN a few years ago. Maybe at some point he'll end up on WEEI as well...

I would have liked to have heard him more, but the signal wasn't up to that. Big O's deal is up (in Sept?) and having Felger around probably makes management's negotiating a bit easier.
As for others from 790,890 showing up on the EEI roster, I would doubt it.

As far as 790 goes, Cordeschi is hosting a saturday morning sports show on former sister station WPRO-AM. Andy Gresh has always had some very very hard words for WEEI, and where he works for ESPN, something tells me , he won't be touching WEEI with a 10 ft pole.

I can't see them letting Ordway go...

Andy Gresh is a tough listen. I don't understand the attraction? What am I missing?

This market Hate national Sports Program ( ESPN and The Sporting News Radio Stinks ). This station need to go back to Spanish Music ( Spanish Music =2. something, ESPN= 0. Nothing, in the ratings ) .

It would be great if that happened, but I doubt if it will. Recently they had a lot more participation by Cedric Maxwell and the addition of Lou Merloni and Brian Daubach, but the fat slob seems to show up every week just the same. I've noticed that McAdam isn't on as much as he used to be.

Wouldn't you think that they would stop promoting the Felger show? I just heard a spot for his show on ESPN 890.
Promote this show to the End. That all this Junk station has .

890 promoted Felger's show? When I think of promotion, I think of billboards and ads in newspapers, not ads on the station the show already airs on.

Unlike many, I actually like Felger but it's kind of laughable anyone would think he gives EEI any type of "leverage" with Ordway.

Could you PM me with more on what you heard, I work at 890 and thought I had our station "Felger-free", I must have missed something....if anyone hears anything let me know

Thanks!

"leverage" with Ordway
It isn't leverage. I just talked with someone from Chicago about a talent who priced himself out of a job. Not saying Glen will do this, and I think he'll be back. But Felger arrives just as Glen is looking for a new deal...

I heard Gresh for the first time on ESPN this spring and he was ok. Maybe he's different in a talk format, that I haven't heard. It wouldn't surprise me to see Providence do some part-time sports talk. Is WPRO doing Pats FB, this season?

that's a shame. McAdam is excellent. I listened to him yesterday morning with Mike Munantskey filling in for Mikey and it was fantastic. NO BS, just good baseball talk.

The saying goes that 'Little children should be seen and not heard.' For sports media hacks like Felger (et al), they shouldn't be seen or heard. Even reading their printed words (see: Massarotti) causes fits of rage across the fruited plain. So, let Felger pat himself on the back with glee at having landed a so-called 'plum' role in the Internet world. Somewhere there's a cartoon of Lemmings with faces of all our 'favorite' sports hacks running over an 'Old media' cliff and into lifeboats labeled 'ESPN,' 'The Internet' and so on. I don't know how successful weei.com will be. Typically, 'old media' tries with all their might ('For MORE on this story, visit us at WBZ.com TODAY!!!') to get its viewers and listeners over to the web, where you are greeted with...click ads for dating sites, real estate, and other shameless money-grabbing ploys. These web sites are typically horrible, and don't contain the 'More Information' that you were promised on the radio or the TV news. They are shameless reservoirs of click ads. Hopefully weei.com will break through that embarrassing paradigm. They'd better, or Felger's next job will be cleaning my pool.
