It seems that John O'hurley (of "Seinfeld" and "Dancing with the Stars") is the new voice of Mike-fm. Do you think having him on the air will help their ratings?

Unless John O'Hurley is recording hit songs, it won't make a difference in the ratings.

Well given that:

A. "Seinfeld" is so five years ago
B. "Dancing with the stars" doesnt exactly resonate on the radio, although it
is some strange TV phenomenon
C. Leeza Gibbons mug did nothing for Star in their TV spots, although her
star is pretty faded by now compared to the dim light of John OHurley's
star such that it is........

given all of that extrapolated data I would say NO. O'Hurley does great work, great voice actor but that "J. Peterman" sound will get old in a hurry plus Will Morgan who they had been using is a VO KINGPIN!. If they replaced Morgan with John O'Hurley that is just plain silly, if they are using him in tandem with Will Morgan, oil and water but it could at least be interesting.

The old voice is still there, O'Hurley just kind of responds to what the main voice says in some liners. He's also used like this on 95.7 Ben FM in Philly.

I like the music Mike plays,I do not like all this alleged personality.
They should either just play music, adverts & station ID's or if they want personality, get some live DJ's to provide it.

I know a lot of people like Will Morgan's work on MIKE & I agree it does lend personality to the station. I like the idea of an unusual voice rather than something generic. What I don't like are the lines he has to read. Frankly they're silly & I know they're meant to be silly but some of them are from the point of view that you don't have to sit through dj talk on MIKE. No you don't but this guy gets more mike time than some live jocks & the "talk" is really more irritating than anything any live jocks is doing. Granted he's brief but he's not that brief in some cases.

Will Morgan is a GENIUS,........A GENIUS, his forte however is Alternnative, whether it be Kroq LA, or a lot of his work on the Howard Stern show as he was the voice for along time too. I do think the Mike copy is very good fo what it is, having moved into station voicing myself and now that Im imaging about five different stations in different formats you would be shocked at how uninspired the copy can be at times..... I mean yo have to like that sort of irreverent/silly imaging. It's cut from the Jack mold and I think the theory is that he talks less than a jock, but to the average listener it doesnt matter if the on air voice is doing a ten second liner break like Mike/Jack do, or a 30 second actual jock break, if youre one of the ultra sensitive listeners who gets all annoyed when you hear anything other than a song, talk is talk and it doesnt matter how it is delivered. The advantage of the Mike?jack thing is that you're only paying a voice guy depending on how much copy theyre getting per week, anywhere from 500 to 2000 dollars a month as opposed to a full airstaff, elementary but people still question:"why dont ttheey have any dj's:"? in conversation from time tot ime.

WARW,(classic rock), Washington DC, The New QFM,(Hot AC) Wilkes Barre, PA, KSMB(CHR),Lafayette, LA (just a couple of promos there, not very much actually), Music Choice on demand network, and a couple I dont want to mention........lol. You can check it out at www.voicehunter.com. but it's a very old demo.

Speaking of the music, they seem to have tweaked their playlist somewhat. Was listening the other day & in the course of an hour heard 3 songs I didn't know. Also seems to be a bit more AOR-ish. I thought the idea of this format was to play nothing but hits.
