Mike Francesa No Longer "Mike'd Up" On WFAN

Today on his "NFL Now" program, Mike Francesa announced that effective this Monday, January 16th, his daily show on WFAN (and YES Network) will no longer be known as "Mike'd Up." The new program title will apparently be revealed on Monday.

Apparently, WNBC/4 owns the rights to the name "Mike'd Up" (the Sunday night show Francesa hosts after the late news) and does not want to relinquish it. (This despite the fact that Francesa only does his WNBC show only a handful of times outside of the football season.)

Mike anouced his past summer on WFAN he decided not to renew his contract with WNBC so could spend more time with his family. Bruce Beck has been the fulltime host of Mike'd Up on WNBC since August.

Reminder: The new show name - and corresponding theme song - are due to be unveiled next hour on WFAN. (Monday's show had a dry open with no theme song.) I personally thought they'd just call the radio show "Francesa On The FAN", or perhaps plain old "The Mike Francesa Show" like the YES Network calls it - but Francesa said on his football show on Sunday that he already has a new name ready to go, but it needs to be approved by "CBS attorneys."

OK.

I wish they would push him back 2-6pm. 5 1/2 hours a day is too much bloviating from him for me. Why not Evan and Joe 10-2pm?

And does anyone really care if it's Mike'd up, which was a dumb name to begin with, or not? I sure don't.
