MIKE GALLAGHER---MELTDOWN OR BIT?

I've been waiting to see some posts here about Mike Gallagher continuing to use his local hour on KRLD to talk about his feelings being hurt and his gig at the station being in jeopardy because Russ Martin told Gavin Spittle that he didn't like Mike's show. What's the scoop?

Very good if it's a bit...not sure I'll ever know whether it was or not.

We can only hope it's a meltdown. The guy is incredibly annoying, as are most of his kind. Maybe the new PD will make a change.

Re: Lemme guess...Mark Davis to KRLD???

Looks simple to me. Russ has a regular on-air lovefest with DFW's Most Eligible Womanizer, Mark Davis. Mark and Mike's shows compete in the same timeslot. WBAP is probably still unhappy that Salem yanked Gallagher and sold him to KRLD (when he should have been put on their KSKY instead.) So maybe Mark's avenging WBAP's anger over losing the show by having Russ run it down? Then again, Gallagher's not helping himself, anyway, by bringing attention to this. I seriously doubt Russ's listeners are equally enthralled with Gallagher's conservative talk show with heavy Christian undertones. There's likely no crossover audience whatsoever. If Gallagher thinks he's enticing Russ's listeners to stop by his own show for a listen, he's sure going about it the wrong way.

Then again, wouldn't it be a coup if KRLD hired Mark Davis away from WBAP? Maybe that's the idea here. It's already a case of strange bedfellows with Russ (Infinity) letting Mark (ABC) on his show so often. Friends or not, I don't see Clarice dropping by to talk with Jackie and Justin on "Good Morning Texas."

Now, playing out the scenario here: Let's say you're WBAP and you've just lost Davis. Kevin McCarthy's about the only one qualified to step in, but darn it, he's just not conservative enough to fit the station "mold." What do ya do? We all know the local talk talent base has dried up, just by listening to the various yo-yo's that auditioned for Gary McNamara's PM spot. The only ones worth having are already working. Do you fill it with more syndie ABC Radio blather (a la Mark Levin?) or risk a newbie that'll take 2-3 years to build a fan base? Losing Davis would sure help the bottom line since ABC Radio's for sale, but losing a sure-bet timeslot is priceless.

Sure, you're probably saying, "Mark's just been syndicated to ABC Radio. He's not going anywhere." OK, his last daily syndie attempt lasted 8 months. And ABC has no allegiance to where their programming ends up. It's on Infinity, Clear Channel, Cumulus, Cox stations......everywhere across the US. ABC Radio's a programming provider, and you might as well strike the ABC name from the title after that. It has no bearing.

Re: Lemme guess...Mark Davis to KRLD???

no joke, Davis wanted A MILL-EE-YONN (Dr. Evil) DOLLAR$ to leave 'BAP couple of years ago. Thinks he's in Kidd territory..
