Like I said, Gallagher may not have intended for his words to sound the way they did, but that's too bad. The same snake that bites Maher may bite Gallagher, too. Turnabout is fair play, and when you are paid and on the TV and radio, you have to watch your words.
This is what I am talking about, turn about is not fair play. When both incidents should not have hurt either guy. If you think what happened to Mahr was wrong you have to support Gallagher and if you think Mahr should be fried you have to fry Gallagher. Just cause they got your guy doesn't mean you should go after theirs. Take the high road. If you think Mahr was wrongly besmirched, defend Gallagher.
sorry Dale, we have to agree to disagree.
I'm not saying these guys shouldn't be allowed to say what they want, but they have to take the knocks. IMHO, they were both ugly statements and they should have caught heat from it.
Of course, if you don't like it you can always change the channel, or turn the thing off. In Maher's case there were reports that his numbers were slipping, although an argument could be made that most ABC programming back then was in the dumper.
Hey, Jane Fonda paid for her actions
for decades. The Dixie Chicks may never have the success they used to have, and they really didn't do anything close to what Hanoi Jane did.
Savage lost his TV gig for telling some gay person to
'get Aids and die'.
I don't even feel bad if a host leaves his mic 'ON' when it shouldn't be and says something damaging. They always proclaim
'I didn't mean it!!', but we all know the rules.
If your going to sit in front of a mic or a TV camera and debate, there are lines you cannot cross.
I'll admit I never heard Gallagher, but judging from all this I'm not sure I'll make any effort to do so.
