Mike Gallagher

Whenever I look at lists of the top talk radio hosts, Mike Gallagher is always around 6th place. However, i just can't seem to find a lot of affiliates that carry him. I mean, even Salem, the company that owns his show, airs him in the overnight hours on their stataions. Where are his 3.75 million listeners like Talkers says he has?

I've always wondered the same thing. He's on midnight-3am here in Louisville. He is very entertaining though.

The problem I always had with his show was that smashing watermelons, to me, never translated well to radio. I guess I'm clearly in the minority. ;)

Have you ever read a description Talkers' methodolgy for the Heavy 100 ranking?

Aside from the hosts whose sheer numbers and fame demand their inclusion on the list, the selection process is subjective with the goal being to create a list reflective of the industry’s diversity and total flavor as well as giving credit where credit is due.

The Talkers Magazine editors who painstakingly compile this super-list draw upon a combination of hard and soft factors when evaluating candidates. These include (in alphabetical order) courage, effort, impact, longevity, potential, ratings, recognition, revenue, service, talent, and uniqueness. We acknowledge that it is as much an art as science and that results are arguable.
