Mike Greenberg Blames "Talking Fast" For Saying "Coon" On MLK Day "Mike & Mike"

Mike Greenberg Blames "Talking Fast" For Saying "Coon" On MLK Day "Mike & Mike"

After an eagle-eared viewer caught "Mike & Mike" host Mike Greenberg mistakenly saying the word "coon" while telling viewers - and ESPN Radio listeners - that it was Martin Luther King Day, Greenberg issued a clarification on ESPN.com, blaming the mispronunciation on "created by my garbling a sentence on our show this morning; I apologize for not addressing it sooner. And I'm sorry that my talking too fast - and slurring my words - might have given people who don't know our show the wrong impression about us, and about me..."

he should be suspend for his actions.

Re: Mike Greenberg Blames "Talking Fast" For Saying "Coon" On MLK Day "Mike & Mike"

Greenberg said “Mike & Mike on ESPN Radio taking football with you on this Martin Luther Coon – King, Jr. holiday…” Later that day, Greenberg released a statement, saying, “I apologize for not addressing it sooner. And I'm sorry that my talking too fast – and slurring my words – might have given people who don’t know our show the wrong impression about us, and about me … I would never say anything like that, not in public, or in private, or in the silence of my own mind......
He'd never say or think anything like that in public or private? BUT, HE DID. And, his "apology" is laughable. Greenberg should not be suspended....he should be FIRED....and BARRED from radio for the remainder of his miserable life.

Re: Mike Greenberg Blames "Talking Fast" For Saying "Coon" On MLK Day "Mike & Mike"

You guys are being ridiculous . It was a mistake. I totally believe Greeny..he has never seemed mean spirited or unjust. He should be fired? Get a grip he was talking fast.

Re: Mike Greenberg Blames "Talking Fast" For Saying "Coon" On MLK Day "Mike & Mike"

How does Greenie's slip compare to the congressman who referred to Barney Frank as "Barney ***" several
years ago?

Re: Mike Greenberg Blames "Talking Fast" For Saying "Coon" On MLK Day "Mike & Mike"

He apologized. Besides, he's just an entertainer. He misspoke, even if it was because it was front-of-mind subconscious. No big whoop, unless there's gonna be a hanging. That might be pushing it.

Are you trying to be satirical? Or are you dead serious? I'm SCARED TO DEATH if it's the latter.
