Mike Huckabee has a substitute

What did he do today on his long show?

For his commentaries that replaced Paul Harvey on some stations including mine, someone named Brian Wilson (I think that's right) was filling in. He's never had anyone fill in, while Mr. Harvey was getting up in years and had lots of substitutes including Mr. Huckabee.

Brian Wilson - not a member of the Beach Boys - is a talk show, most recently in Toledo, Ohio. He was part of the morning team of Ross and Wilson on WABC, New York, arguably the high point in his career - except he and Ross Brittain (now doing mornings on WOGL, Philadelphia) didn't get along.

I don't know whether there's a Mike Huckabee station in my area. And today the AM reception is so messed up I wouldn't be able to hear if there was.

Is the long show using a substitute?

Brian Wilson did fill in work on KSFO in SF. He had a tiff with Mike Savage there over the immigration issue. Savage hard core on the issue, Wilson had more of a libertarian perspective. (This is when Savage was local in SF.)

I think he is out of New York state somewhere.

I think Huckabee does not like doing the show.

Ironically, I was in a city with a Mike Huckabee affiliate on the last day he had Mr. Wilson on his short program. But I didn't think to turn to that station.

Mr. Wilson thanked Gov. Huckabee for letting him substitute and promised Mike would be back at the Mike on Monday.

Though it was Memorial Day and he could have recorded that broadcast anytime.
