Mike Inglis-Miami Heat

Does anyone else find it curious that the Miami Heat has TV voice Eric Reid call playoff games into a tape recorder, as reported here; "Heat TV announcer Eric Reid has been on press row calling all the Heat-Celtics games into a tape recorder, broadcasting to an audience of, well, nobody. The reason? The Heat wants to use Reid’s call of big plays (instead of the network announcers) on postseason videos and offseason highlights shows. “I enjoy being involved in whatever way I can,” he said. Reid and the Heat have been doing this since 2005."

What other team would do this? What does it say about the team's faith in radio voice Mike Inglis' calls? Why don't they just get a radio guy that does a good job who is not oppressively negative and painfully in-descriptive. Does anyone else have a hard time listening to Inglis' broadcasts? Evidently, the Heat does.

I think you are reading way too much into this. The Heat have used Inglis and Reid's voice on videos. This is them subbing Eric Reid for the ESPN/TNT calls so they have "their TV guy."

No other team does this, that I've ever heard of. If Inglis did consistently great calls and was loved by the fans, they would have no problem using his calls, period. My suggestion to the Heat is, if you don't love him, replace him. Plan B: use Eric Reid as the "true" voice of the Heat, where he works TV for the games that are on Sun, then takes over radio for games that are not on Sun.

newmiamivoice is accurate. Plenty of NBA teams substitute the National TV calls with their local TV guys dubbed over. Ingles still gets plenty of run in these post season vignettes

I don't know about into a tape recorder? But, most teams in the NBA use their TV voice to dub over the plays on the national broadcast of the playoffs games. This is due to the playoff games outside of round one being strictly on TNT or ESPN
