Mike Malloy off WLIB

Mike Malloy said on his show last night that AAR is replacing him with "The Satellite Sisters" on WLIB only after being offered a lucrative deal from ABC. He also said AAR is working to get him on another station in the area, especially considering that he said he had major gains in the latest ratings book. And...he mentioned repeatedly that '06 is going to be the year AAR has to show a profit.

Are they doing a daily show now? I thought they were just on Saturday.

They started a daily (God save us) show on XM in Limbaugh's slot, with a terrestrial rollout to come in 2006. Well, 2006 is here and just wait for it to come to a station near you.

How about WLIB? Alan Colmes isn't exactly a hot commodity in syndication now.

The sisters are a bit on the boring side IMHO and I didn't realize that they were liberals, maybe I haven't heard enough of their opinions.

But I think we might be missing a bigger issue. I have seen talk on AAR message boards that WLIB is making weekend changes as well. Are they considering not renewing the LMA? Malloy is a big program for AAR and red meat on off hours for the true beleivers. His followers make Rush's people look tame. Perhaps AAR would consider another NY station for all their programs, but could they find anything better than WLIB?

Just goes to show you how meaningless the New York Metro A.I.R. Awards are to the radio industry.
______________

If hating men is liberal, then they're liberal.

It isn't, therefore it's just gotta be "women's talk". XM has a station for that I think. Haven't heard the anti-men rant too often on AAR, though Randi and Steph (not AAR) go on a bit from time to time.

And: Malloy's response to CPAC invite...

http://radioequalizer.blogspot.com/

From Washington Post:
"For next month's Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), media director Andrea Saul sent 500 invitations to radio talk shows inviting them to broadcast from the Omni Shoreham Hotel. Although most of the broadcasters on-site are darlings of the right, Saul also contacted several liberal hosts and producers...

"Malloy wrote:

"Um . . . you're kidding, right? Why would I have any desire whatsoever to attend or participate in a convocation of neo-Nazis????? I had two uncles fight against you [expletive] in WW2. And, now, surprise! surprise! here you all are on US soil. Kindly get the [expletive] off my email. Thanks."

Saul said she was stunned by his response. "I'm all for a difference of opinion, but this is entirely uncalled-for, and all the more offensive when you consider that I'm Jewish, lost family in the Holocaust and had a grandfather almost killed during WWII." Her complaints to Air America execs have gone unanswered. A spokeswoman said the network would have no comment.

Malloy regrets upsetting Saul, but still feels the conservatalkers
mentioned in the invite are still "fascists".

Yup and ironically enough, Nazi is short for National SOCIALIST...

Wouldn't it have been better for Malloy to show his brilliance and
superiority by going to the event and taking part? Oh no, I guess he's
too good for them :)
______________

WOW!! Nice response Malloy. You know at some time it would be wise to open your mind a little, no? Why not show up at the event and express his views there?
