Mike North as Sox radio analyst?!?

Hooboy! That would be deja vu Jimmy Piersall all over again, only without Piersall's baseball knowledge.

North says he'd tone his act down, but if he did, what would be the point?

Fortunately it looks like he'd be a longshot to get the job. He may be a Sox fan, but he's no baseball expert. Ron Santo is an excitable guy too, but he's an ex-player with knowledge of the game. So was Piersall. North isn't.

I think they dropped this rumor just to distract fans from the fact that Ed "ZZZZ" Farmer will be doing play-by-play next year.

John Rooney will be sorely missed...it would be nearly a no-brainer to bring back Dave Wills from Tampa, but I guess he signed a multiyear contract to do Rays games for the 6 or so fans who bother to listen.

My choice is to have Rooney back in the booth. However, if that is not to be the case, how about bringing Wayne Hagin back to the Sox booth? I believe he now does Cardinal's games.

Richard Roeper Approached???

Mancow was talking about it this morning...that Roeper was actually approached to do color commentary. Has anyone heard anything else about this, or was he just making things up for the sake of entertainment? Sounded serious to me...

Feder mentioned it too. There's no way he could do 162 games but he might be a 3rd man in the booth or have pre- or post-game duties.

Roeper's a smart guy and a Sox fan, but he as qualified as North to be a baseball analyst (read: He's not).

Re: Richard Roeper Approached???

While I can appreciate Roeper's humor and wit, the situation almost reminds me of the Dennis Miller tryout on MNF. I just can't see it really registering with Sox fans...
