Mike Remy Out At Sports 1140

I guess success just isn't enough in radio these days.....

AllAccess.com reports today:

"After logging 30 years at what is now the CBS RADIO cluster in SACRAMENTO, Sports KHTK-A (SPORTS 1140) PD MIKE REMY has been let go in a budgetary move. REMY has been PD at KHTK for the past 15 years, building the station into one of the nation's most successful sports outlets."

Uhhhhhh.....He was let go on February 7, 2008.

I know it's months old....I just found it unusual that AllAccess reported it today

Ohhhhhh.....I get it. Remy must have contacted allaccess.com himself to report the incident and his contact info so he can get a new gig.

My guess would be that they gave him an exceptional severance package and either a) they used it in exchange for a non-compete agreement or b) Remy took a few months off but now that the severance is drying up he needs to work again. Question is, will he stay in Sac?

"exceptional severance package"? I remember, in the foggy distant reaches of my mind,
a day when 3 decades of service while performing well for a major media company would
rate that....but the current business model doesn't seem to work that way.

Remy and ESPN? Why? He babysat 1140 for years, and ESPN already has a babysitter and a very good one at that. My guess is he joins the Mrs. at RD 1470. But then again, maybe he's tired of babysitting stations. Who knows?
