Mike Rose...come on down!

Kimmer announced today that Mike Rose will be debuting with an audition show this coming Sunday night. Of course we all remember Mikey as Kimmers former producer. This is getting monotonous isn't it? How many others will GST be parading through the doors next? I heard on a short list of other GST candidates being considered are Raul Mondesi, Dan Rather, Ted Koppel, Carl Rowland, former Brave Mike Lum, Rita Cosby, and Ted Turner.

Re: Mike Rose - this has to be a joke

Mike must have incriminating photographs of someone at GST. That is the only way I can make any sense of this at all. Or, WGST is just plain desperate.

LOL!

Re: Mike Rose - this has to be a joke

Mike's been canned more times than Dennis Miller. Of course, if his show airs at night, he's sure to rival his listener total from 1340.

Everyone lighten up. Its just a one time show this Sunday night. You may never hear from me again.

Its just a chance to have a little fun and do some radio.

I detect a little jealously than none have been offered a chance so far. But they may get around to you.

For the record, Denis Miller has been fired more often than me.

I mean you guys have kind of hurt my feelings.

Talk to you Sunday night from 7 to 9 on Braves Radio 640 GST.

Re: Mike Rose - this has to be a joke

I've always enjoyed Mike's work. He was great with Kimmer
back in the day. Got him to do many more skits and character
stuff - things that are nonexistant in his show today.
Didn't Mikey do a show from the Clairmont Lounge in the
mid 90's? Good luck Mikey. "HEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY"

Re: Mike Rose - this has to be a joke

Good Lord people! Give it a rest! Whether or not YOU like Mike Rose at least he's got something most of you probably don't. A chance at a show! I've heard him and he's not bad. Aside from this he's a HUMAN BEING and deserves to be treated respectfully. If you do not like what he does remember that there are people in the world who do not like you either. Instead of being so damned negative towards him, why not ENCOURAGE the guy! It couldn't hurt and he may actually do a better show. Radio is a crass, coarse, unforgiving business. Why not do something to change it for the better and help each other to make the medium achieve all that it can and bring respect back to our belagured profession! We've got enough crap to deal with as it is!

Re: Mike Rose - this has to be a joke

Thanks. I appreciate the comments.

Everyone in talk radio is used to taking abuse. I will give back to them on Sunday night.

Radio insiders are the worst. It is easy to get bitter in this business. But their opinions don't matter that much.

People don't understand why some people are given opportunities and others are not. Sometimes they have more talent and sometimes it is luck.

Radio is not hard. It is fun to do and it is great to have a soapbox.

Don't forget to tune in Sunday night from 7 to 9 on Braves Radio 640 GST.

Can we call in and be put on hold so we can hear it?

Re: Mike Rose - this has to be a joke

Good luck Mike! You're a good guy, and I hope there's still a place for folks like us in radio. (I'd identify myself, but I'd blow my cover. Let's just say I remember the Jane Simmons days on the G-Spot)

Re: Mike Rose - this has to be a joke

Mike is a great guy and a talented and gifted radio pro.
He was the ingredient back in the day that made the Kimmer show so much better and funnier than it is now.

He also has a name in the Atl market, and years of experience.

I can't say that I think he's the guy to go up against Boortz, but he does have every qualification to at least get an audition.

Can you really say that Dino Costa would be a better choice than Mike?

Go Mikey---I look forward to hearing ya!

"Do you need another cup of coffee Sean?"

Hey RP you've been working for Sean Hannity for far too long and I think its really starting to affect your ability to discern talent my friend.

Keep working those affiliate relations lines and stay out of evaluating talent.

Costa was very good last week during his three day exhibition, he's worked in three top 25 markets previously, and I've spoken with more than a few who belive GST could do a lot worse.

Yes Rose was an integral part of the Kimmers show previously but all you needed to do was to listen to Kimmer last Friday for his view of Rose's chances of becoming anything more than a one night fill in.

I'd take Brian Wilson, Mark Williams, Kevin Wall, and maybe even David Paul or RuPaul, before I'd take Rose on as a full time regular host.

Let me get this straight, you are calling for Mike Rose over previously established hosts who have had major market experience before?

Yes, you are secure in your career as an affiliate relations coordinator.

Nothing personal Mike.

Now be a good lackey RP and see if Sean needs another cup of coffee.

We at GST are doing fine without thee.

Yeah I know....i've seen the ratings...you're kicking real serious ass over there.

Now if you'll excuse me, Sean needs his dry cleaning picked up...

I agree. Good luck Mikey. Have fun. Going to have any hookers on?
Those were some funny shows.

Mike, what's the deal? You did a couple of shows on Sunday evenings last fall rotating with others and then the Sunday shows stopped. Is Bloomie looking to do something regular on Sunday or is this try-outs for an evening show during the week?

Looking forward to listening on Sunday!

How did this come up again?

Right now I am working for Bank of America as a mortgage banker and not doing radio.

I did do a couple of fill-ins at WGST in the fall but that is all.

I have not talked to or heard from Randall since he started as Program Director at WGST.

The only radio project that I am working on is as a sidekick/news anchor for the soon to be launched Martha Zoller statewide show on Saturday mornings.

Thanks for remembering me.
