Mike Sakellarides

I'm sure going to miss his laugh as he would say "and I'm Mike Sakellarides, you're mid-day host!"

He was on the air waves for 25 years from 10-3 monday-friday...how ridiculous of CC to get rid of someone who played such a great part in KOST-FM :(

Looks like they are getting ready to sell.
It's been well publicized that they are in the process of taking the company private.

Actually Mike only did 10-3 for the first 6 months or so and then again from late 2001 to the present. For most of the Cox years they did 4 hour shifts around the clock at KOST. Yup, "live" 24 hours a day. Imagine that... CC has NO PROBLEM getting rid of people, good people. Dees, Tuna and a list as long as your leg in LA alone, and as has been pointed out on these boards, the other companies take their cues from CC. Doesn't matter of those cues are right or not, so radio is in REAL trouble. The only company with some hope for the workers in radio is sadly CBS.

1. DEES? Settin' the WORLD on fire at Movin', eh?

2. MANY industries are going through downsizing. That's why "Who Moved My Cheese" continues to be such a big seller!

Dees chose unwisely. Imagine if he hadn't been so stupidly demanding and actually made the deal to go to KRTH? Now he really looks like a has-been. Tuna may be done in local radio but was still somewhat relevant at 104 till they blew him out. He would sound good at KRTH, but they may not feel they need him or Dees now.

Uh, at the risk of sounding out of the loop, what is "Who Moved My Cheese"?

I don't believe he was at KNX-FM (93.1), but he was at KPOL-FM (93.9) which was a Contemporary format, prior to becoming KZLA.
You're correct; he was at KPOL which was a direct competitor of KNX-FM. He stayed when it became KZLA until moving to KOST in 1982.

You are right. I think my mind is starting to go
