MIKE SCOTT-A GIANT IN THE AREA PASSES

I cannot tell you how much this pains me to pass along to all of you. I just heard from a couple of people in Columbia that one of the funniest, most talented, most dedicated and coolest people I've ever known in my life just passed away this morning. Mike Scott, of Fox 102 in Columbia, apparently died of a massive heart attack after battling cancer for an undetermined time. I have many memories of Mike, and I may share them, but there are many, many more people that knew Mike far better than I did that would be better suited to sharing their memories of a great friend. I hope they post here.

Mike,
Thanks for your friendship and all the times you helped me...especially with production. Thanks for sharing your warped sense of humor with the rest of us who are equally warped. We'll miss you.

Later Mike...see you someday soon, my friend(maybe overlooking Williams-Brice Stadium this Fall).

I also knew Mike. He was FOX 102. When he was on the breeze you had to listen because he knew his music, he knew his craft, he was one the guys we listened to just so we would could do our jobs better and few did it better than Mike.

A toast to a fantastic jock and a great guy. The rock station in heaven is rejoicing now...even though we are sad. Sleep well my brother...

Mike will be sorely sorely missed around here. Today is a very sad day.

Koko and Weird Beard will be making an official on-air announcement today at 3 on Fox 102 for those of you able to tune in.

I met Mike when Fox/WNOK/WOIC was on Pickens St. Mike always had a funny joke to tell. He will be missed.

God bless and God speed Mike.

Back in the day we at WARQ beat the Fox guys over the head mercilessly as part of the strategy. And Mike was a class act the whole way through. Heck, he was a class act period, and a great jock.

I am very saddened. We went silent for 1 minute at 4:00 p.m..

Hey Trent, Fox did a very nice job on the Mike Scott Tribute...on-line and especially on-air. Kudos and prayers to all of you, Andrea and the rest of Mike's family. Weird Beird, I feel you. As bad as I feel, I cannot fathom how broken up you must be. My heart and thoughts are with you as well, brother.

I have no words. Not now anyway. :(

Will someone post information about the arrangements? I'm sure there are some out of towners who would like to make the trip back for services.

Condolences to traffic dumpling Andrea and her family. Amy and I's thoughts and prayers are with you.

Bo

The wake will be at the Caughman Harmon funeral home on North Lake Drive in Lexington, SC from 2 until 4 this Saturday afternoon.
