Mike Tirico to take over for DP

I was listening to the Dayton affiliate of ESPN Radio and he will be taking over from 1-3 eastern. Stephen A Smith will be taking over the 3-4 hour. Here's my question. How many stations, especially in major markets in the eastern timezone will dump that 3-4 slott in favor of local programming? That would put them on an even tear with those ending the Jim Rome show.

Interesting thing is that currently, Smith hosts the 12 noon-2 pm shift locally on 1050 ESPN in New York, then I believe they carry the next two hours that used to be DP's show from 2-4 pm. Max Kellerman (live/local) is 10 am-noon IINM. With this move, it's possible Max could get an extra hour, and Smith will "expand" to three hours, his two local hours from 1-3 PM and his live national hour at 3 PM. It'll be just like when Rush Limbaugh did two shows back in the late 80's.

Smith, who previously hosted 1050 ESPN Radio's Stephen A. Smith Show noon-2 p.m. weekdays, will now host New York's 2-4 p.m. slot, with the final hour going national on ESPN Radio. Smith is an ESPN NBA analyst, appearing on many of its platforms, as well as a regular Sunday morning SportsCenter contributor. He is a former reporter and columnist for the New York Daily News and Philadelphia Inquirer

Patrick bored me for days and about the only host I ould think that could be worse is Tirico. Geeez what a mess that network is

I actually liked Tirico when he filled in for Dan. But I think it is a bit much to cram 2 hosts into 3 hours.
