Shame, shame. Radio Racket did an interview with Jody MacDonald last Friday night. Jody Mac says WPEN intends to start up a local-live morning show.
Four days later, the Inquirer runs the following:
A producer of Radio Racket says he had emailed Mikey during the Friday broadcast about what Jody Mac had said in the interview. Reportedly, Mikey responded he had spoken to the new PD earlier and he "didn't mention anything about it."
No wonder Mikey covers radio for Inky. This kind of lifting of news stories without credit or attribution is common practice in radio news.
It is also interesting that Mikey, while puffing the new Hy Lit website and the launch of a new Saturday afternoon one hour program on a brokered station, has so far failed to acknowledge the existance of the Radio Racket broadcast.
Mikey does have one interesting - and new - piece of information in his article. Mikey says the new guy from Detroit via Austin wants to make WPEN a mix of sports AND ENTERTAINMENT. Just like WIP! Bad news for listeners who were happy to finally have a pure sports talk station in town once again.

Sports talk WPEN-AM (950) confirms that a local morning show is on the way.
The hire will be the first order of business for new program director Gregg Henson, who starts in Bala next week. No names yet. ...
Right now, the station's alpha local male is afternooner Jody McDonald. "We're going to build this thing around Jody," Henson said by phone the other day.
Mindful of going up against top sports gun WIP-AM (610) - whose reputation is more entertainment than X's and O's - Henson says he wants to find a mix of sports info and entertainment. "In a town like Philadelphia with so many passionate sports fans, you can do a lot more than entertainment."
