Mikey V named new night show host for Kiss 108

Mikey V. is a Massachusetts native who is inbound from Amp Radio in Detroit. He will be live. Some of his previous experience includes Radio NOW 100.9 in Indianapolis, Z95.5 in Ithaca, and (I think) Fun 107 in New Bedford. His brother does mornings for Clear Channel's CHR in San Diego.

Good! He sounded great last night. Great to see local talent making their dreams happen. AMP once again loses out by having all non Boston talent including their part time talent on air. They easily could have brought on this kid a year ago.

Not all of AMP's part time talent is from out of the area and at least they are live and IN A BOSTON STUDIO and not tracked days prior in California. So at the end of the day who is really losing?

The only local talent AMP has is Joe Bermudaz. Their parttimers are commuting from out of state to work there. Does the PD have something against local talent besides Joe Bermudaz. You can 100% tell their full timers aren't from here. Midday chick has way too many crutches and how long are they going to call themselves "The New Amp radio" no longer new. Their morning show tries, but it's too hard to win Boston listeners over that grew up with Pebbles/Baltazar/Ramior and Matty. Evolution 101 is even beating AMP on nights and weekends.

What CBS should do is dump the AMP format and go either back to the 60s, 70s and 80s music. They kept the call letters so there is no adjustment there. They could even give "Mike FM" a try. Maybe they should have gone Christmas back before WMJX did. Would be great if they brought back some of their old personalities and jingles too.

Why should they?

The Oldies format was a loser for them. Why go back to a format that was barely breaking even?

Why should a station just hire local talent? You should have the best talent possible to fill your positions, not just because they know where route 128 and 95 intersect (not that it matters for top 40 anyways). If stations only hired people from this area, then this market would be awful.
