Miley Cyrus..AKA Hanah Montana-See you Again

I cant believe this. The new song from Miley Cirus is pretty Dancy, im talling about the original radio edit being played on some top 40 stations right now. Dont be surprised if a few MORE DANCIER remixes get made, and this track winds up at stations like Energy SF and AZ, as well as Party 105. If its popular enough then Brett at Z88.9 and Kris at WMPH will be on it as well. And you know KHNC loves the POP-Dance stuff, might end up on Club-Phusion HD-2 as well. ;)

I play it at the Bunkhouse on Saturday night and the crowd goes wild, it's a very au courant Gina G kinda thing going on

Isn't she preggo yet, so I don't have to hear her name anymore? :-\

Seriously though, I still can't get by the fact her dad brought us "Achy Breaky Heart." Not to mention she was probably conceived when Billy's first big money check from that song showed up...

OK SONG...BUT I CAN NAME 10 BETTER SONGS THAT,ONCE AGAIN,TOP 40 IS MISSING THE BOAT ON.

nothing out there right now is better than miley, it's a perfect record;
and why do you think Top 40 is playing it? to help revive "dance"?
OR because she has a billion fans in her "Hannah Montana' identity, and those kids will stay tuned to the station just to hear her song come around again?

"CRY FOR YOU"SEPTEMBER KIM LEONI "AGAIN" PLUMB "IN MY ARMS '(BIMBO JONES REMIX)...3 SONGS THAT WOULD DO HUGE ON TOP 40 IF GIVEN THE CHANCE....ESPECIALLY THE SEPTEMBER TRACK

My local CHR WBWB Bloomington IND has been playing September for months now, so have a few other CHRs. The plumb track is okay, but I like her last Dance Song alot better, the one about feeling alone here and cold now, I cant remember what its called at the moment, I just woke up.

September had a very good run at some major Pop stations, KDWB (472 spins) and WFLZ (869 spins) to name 2 but the reaction was very mixed. It sold very well in Minneapolis but just ok in Tampa. So that tells a label that the song is very good but just a turntable hit. I wish it were different as we love the song but that's what the audience is telling us and we have to respect it.

Kim Leoni, I signed. I love it but it never gained tracking at Pop. It's never too late but with Cascada taking up the "Dance" slot at the CHR's, it's a longshot.

Plumb is another excellent song but I think that it's one of those tracks that people like to hear but then, unfortunately, quickly forget about. Top 40 is about reaction records and the competition is fierce.

Miley's got the same kind of heat that act like N'Sync and the Backstreet Boys had and that translates to the kind of reaction that Pop radio is looking for in the audience.

jp,when you say it sold very well, are you talking about actual physical singles,or downloads, and if it's downloads, are they broken down by state?
as you all can see,jp acknowledges that there is a dance 'slot' at chr,as compared to slots;only one dance record(for 'balance')at a time, thank you

Jimi,

As for pretty much all singles now the sales are of the digital variety. Through Soundscan I can tell exactly what city and what mix was sold when it comes to downloads. It's a great help to see how radio effects digital sales and to see which mix people are responding to.

As for the "dance slot", it just seems to be the CHR mentality that only one dance record can happen at a time although there are some progressive stations out there that aren't afraid to play more than one.

jp

JP, How is September doing in Bloomington indiana? The CHR station here plays it alot on WBWB and they even have had it in their nightly countdown for awhile. Also, a few weeks ago WBWB played September, and then played Rockell-In a Dream right after than.. I thought that was cool that they will sometimes play 2 Dance songs in a rowe. Since WBWB is pretty Dance Friendly, actually alot of gold Dance hits, it makes me wonder if U-93 in South Bend plays any Dance, since both stations are owned by Artistic Media.

THE OTHER PLUMB TRACK WAS "CUT". I WISH PHILLY WOULD HAVE GIVEN SEPTEMBER A CHANCE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN HUGE HERE

I thought that was the same John Parker... I was trying to get an ad for Cascada's "Last Christmas" Either way, I pony'd up some of my own cash to get the double disc import of their "Perfect Day" for our station...

Really would love to give Robbins some love on the charts we report to.

:)
