Millennium Fires WOBM-FM and WCHR-FM talent

Looks like Brian Moore of WOBM-FM is gone. All signs of him are off the web site. Same with Gina Crash from 1057 the Hawk. What's goin on here? Cutbacks? Anyone have any idea? Also, Race Thomas is back on the Hawk's site as the morning guy. He was ok but Gina Crash was better.

I'm gonna guess that Race Thomas might be voicetracking all or part of that Hawk shift, since the Hawk middays was one of the few live middays left on Millenium music stations. If so, that obviously means budget cuts. Don't know about Brian Moore. I'm not that familiar with WOBM's jocks. What shift was he doing?

I wouldn't be surprised if there were budget cuts at Millenniun since superstar cash cow Craig Carton went to The Fan in New York to do mornings with Boomer and replaced with a D list person of no interest.

Budget cuts? You would actually have to have a budget to make cuts. More like increased profits at the expense of the people who made it for you. Why would you fire on-air staff in the middle of a ratings book if you weren't trying to get an accurate seating count of the life rafts as you close in on the iceberg? Letting Carton get away was just a sign of where the ship was headed.

They also let Joanne Cruise go from the Point , As for Carton, why stay in Ewing when NYC called?

Life rafts? Icebergs? Interesting analogy, hmmmmmmmm

First Debbie Mazella and now this. I wonder if Millennium is getting sold. Anyone have any thoughts about this? I think it is crazy they let people like Steve Ardolina and Dr. Phil stay on WOBM and The Hawk but they get rid of good talent like Brian Moore. I think SoJo sounds too much like a rap station now as well and Michele Pilenza is rather annoying in both her job on 1049 and NJ1015. Maybe Millennium needs a new battle plan if they plan to compete with other stations in the market.

Do you think they just felt like November is a good time to start voice tracking the mid-day shows on all their stations? They needed to dump salaries before the new budgets hit. Either the sale is coming or the ice is really starting crack underneath them. But either way it's a sign that the quality of their on-air product isn't at the top of the "to do" list anymore.

Why do stations voicetrack? Whatever happened to live radio!?

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Apparently "Talent" in this business has evolved into the land of the "TalentLESS."

To quote Erin Brockovich... "They're Called BOOB$ ED!!"

Who suffers ultimately?? The listeners, who radio is SUPPOSED TO BE SERVING!!!

The FCC apparently has contracted "Alzheimers" and has forgotten it's REAL purpose!

Absolutely DISGUSTED!!!! Shame on Millennium for being the latest to sacrfice its on-air product!

Atleast The Rat IS really "LIVE/LOCAL" 24/7 as they claim!!!

Stations also voicetrack because the industry has killed it's "Farm System". The independents, mom & pop stations are all but gone, and there's few stations to learn the trade. It's hard to hire air personel that:

1. Can READ.
2. Follow Format.
3. Have a personality
4. Willing to work any format, not just their favorite.
5. Understand that it's a business, not a hobby or sandbox
6. Show up on time.
7. Show up, period.
8 Will work for near poverty wages
9 Willing to learn

The college stations have become the Farm System for new blood, and they have, for the most part, failed to teach the students. They're headed by radio failures in the commercial world. One shining exception is WGLS Glassboro / Rowan University.

1490-WBCB Levittown/Trenton. . .Live 24-7-365. only commercials and sound bites are on computers. as i jock i literally had to eject the CD (or cart, yes they still have a working cart machine) and load another one in. so a bathroom break was usually reserved for the top of the hour USA Network news. and yes, they still use an R.P.U. Marti unit for some of the local remote broadcasts. www.wbcb1490.com. . .there is still hope.

You beat me to it D.C. WBCB is one of my all time favorite radio stations. Small wattage but live 24/7, super serves the coverage area with local news, sports, etc. The best part about the station? It makes money. I might not enjoy all the programming on 1490, but I respect them for sticking with it for 50 years.

Local and live 24/7? Thats great and the way radio should be but todays suits don't have the intellectual capacity to understand that They can't think outside the box and the box they do think in, is very small indeed. BTW, This is another small AM that is doing very well. I've heard about some others namely WGHT.

Even though it's a daytime only operation, WGHT is another prime example of excellent local radio.

WBCB plays some great classic rock sometimes, and then sometimes theyre playing things ive never heard before. i remember riding my bike in front on WBCB in thee Magnolia Hill section of Levittown. i thought it was really cool,my friend was like whats that?
