Stations also voicetrack because the industry has killed it's "Farm System". The independents, mom & pop stations are all but gone, and there's few stations to learn the trade. It's hard to hire air personel that:
1. Can READ.
2. Follow Format.
3. Have a personality
4. Willing to work any format, not just their favorite.
5. Understand that it's a business, not a hobby or sandbox
6. Show up on time.
7. Show up, period.
8 Will work for near poverty wages
9 Willing to learn
The college stations have become the Farm System for new blood, and they have, for the most part, failed to teach the students. They're headed by radio failures in the commercial world. One shining exception is WGLS Glassboro / Rowan University.
