Millennium on Howie Carr 5:13 PM today

Howie Carr has a new commercial where he is the "teacher" telling the bad
Winchendon students they are employing double negatives.

Millennium: "Hey teacher, you got the grammar down, how about the diction?"

Howie: (chuckling) "Can't do much about the diction."

grammar

1. The study of how words and their component parts combine to form sentences.
2. The study of structural relationships in language or in a language, sometimes including pronunciation, meaning, and linguistic history.

diction

# Degree of clarity and distinctness of pronunciation in speech or singing; enunciation.

What you never can understand is this:

For all of the complaining you do YOU'RE STILL LISTENING TO HIM. What do you think that means?.

What you can never understand is this:

Check previous posts: I tune in to the 5:10 PM phone calls - the rest of the time it is music or Ed Schultz

Once in a great while I will listen to 30 minutes or more of H.C. - Ed Schultz
gets most of my attention. Thank you very much.

I heard it. In Howie-ese:

Wisconsin= WESS-con-sin
Syracuse= SERRA-cyoose
Illinois= ELL-EN-oy
collapsed= clapsed

Old joke:
A traveling salesman came to the door of a typical house and a young boy answered.

"Young man, are your mom and dad around?"

"Well, they was in, but now they is out."

"They WAS in! They IS out! Where's your grammar?"

"Out in the kitchen making cookies."

Yes, the chumpline, which Howie will never admit was stolen from
Radio Graffiti on the old Alan Colmes show. (I guess he still does
that feature on Fox News Live with Alan Colmes). Since then it's
been stolen by Big Show (Whiner Line), Dennis and Callahan (Dump Line),
Sean Hannity (Hannity's Insanity), JT The Brick (Speed Brick), etc.

The Chump Line was stolen from Stern. Years ago Carr described getting the bit from Stern's playback of voicemails left for him and Baba Booey. Alan Colmes callers for Radio Graffiti were (are?) live...

As for M's call in, I'm very disappointed he didn't record it and upload it for the rest of us.

You know I have some of them, but yesterday's was not taped, sorry--- when on deadline can't be air-checking. Gotta get the mail out before the last truck!

When Millennium The First impersonated Patricia Smith of The Boston Globe
with her newest poem "I think that I shall never see/A Poem as lovely as
Howeee" he went bonkers and started plagiarizing other poems by "Patricia
Smith" (actually Edgar Allan Poe's The Raven) - they ended up using Howie's
response as a commercial for the show. The Chump Line is some of the best
stuff on commercial radio right now. And H.C. always has a come back.
Does he listen to these before they air and prepare, or is it off the cuff?

> BUT YOU ARE STILL LISTENING TO HIM NO MATTER HOW YOU JUSTIFY IT. YOU ARE STILL LISTENING TO HOWIE CARR IF ONLY FOR FIVE MINUTES AT 5:10. SO HE HAS SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED HIS JOB, HE'S GOTTEN YOU TO LISTEN even though you come on here and post negatively about him. you're still a Howie Carr listener.You find so many ways to justify your behavior and attitudes but in the end he's successful.

Dont you get that even now?.

Hmm, didn't know that about Stern. Colmes' Grafitti callers are/were indeed
live (WRKO carried Fox News Live briefly) as are Hannity's (with no doubt
a special number for Marty and the Carpet Kitten to call in). SpeedBrick
is also live; Hannity's, Big Show, and Dennis and Callahan (do they even
still do that bit?) are/were taped.

Hey guys... too funny! But one could argue (especially here in the south) that what you heard is classic New England-eese.

You guys still haven't figured out what R's sound like LOL.
