Milwaukee's 540 and 1510 swap call signs

Good Karma Broadcasting has swapped the call signs of WRRD and WAUK. WAUK is now at AM 540 in Jackson and WRRD is at AM 1510 in Waukesha. Hmmm...wonder what this could mean for a new 1510 format?

It means the WAUK calls were moved to 540. The WRRD calls may just be temporary, until a new format is launched. The stations will simulcast for awhile, while people get in the habit of migrating.

What's the point of moving the WAUK call letters to 540?
It's not like they ever used the calls anyway except for the legal ID.

I mentioned this on another Milwaukee radio board. I'm wondering if the WRRD calls might signify a talk format, like 1510 The Word? Maybe Air America? I guess time will tell.

I'm willing to bet the WRRD calls will be gone when a new format for 1510 is introduced. Changing call signs is a pretty easy process these days.

Recognition. Many still write "WAUK" in the diaries. WAUK was doing sports long before picking up the ESPN moniker. Switching the calls to 540 makes it easier for the whole transition.
