Your post is still meaningless, and does nothing to address the challenges associated with developing low-cost, low-power, and low-noise HD Radio chipsets.

Essentially, if Samsung says they will have a 9mm chip shipping in Q1, they will.
:D

Ok, Eduardo ! :D

Since you are totally ill-informed as to the size of Samsung, its quality, vertical integration, etc., as long as you post that Samsung is a low quality provider, I will correct you.

You seem to think that Onkyo and JVC and... oh mygawd... Sangean are industry leaders. The fact is that the true leader is the company you dismiss... a company recognized for it innovation in product design and R&D expenditures. As with HD, you just seem to have the world a tiny bit upside down.

First off, I never said Sangean was an "industry leader", I just said they were a brand marketing an HD radio. More nonsense made up by the king of BS.

I don't give a sh*t if Samsung launched a rocket to the moon and found oil... that doesn't mean I'm going to buy their crap. If it's under the hood, good for them. Most consumer electronic devices purchased today are not of the quality of what you purchased 25-30 years ago. I dare say you won't find a 5.1 surround receiver built as well as a two channel late 70's Pioneer receiver or a Marantz before Superscope

If you think it's so innovative, fine, enjoy. If you get all hot and bothered over their wonderful HD Radio chip, good for you. I like the HDTV I have, the stereo I own, the car I own and the equipment I own and I don't care how many other people own the same brands or what the hell they think about it. I made my own choices and I am happy. Thank you. Go back to your charts and graphs, some 65 year old woman is listening and you can't have that.

And as with the HD comment, since you can't form an opinion unless you see it as a number from a poll or a survey, I don't put much weight in anything you say on that or any other subjects regarding broadcasting itself.

I used to think that about Samsung. If memory serves me right they were the ones who launched or at least were associated with the Goldstar name which marketed some of the worst, low grade electronics junk imaginable.

But Samsung (along with LG Electronics) has done a 180. I just purchased their 40" LCD HDTV and it is beautiful. The picture quality and overall finish of product is incredible. They are where Sony was about 15 or 20 years ago. The funny thing is I thought I'd never switch from my favorite brand of TV, Sony. But Sony's quality has been slowly deteriorating and I was not impressed with their LCD HDTV offerings.

(Now imagine that! A guy in his mid-50's switching brands. So much for that hoary marketing crap about people over 50 being brand loyalists and not worth selling to. Give us a good product worth switching to and we'll do it).

But when the South Koreans stop fighting among themselves and protesting, they can actually build one heck of a fine product.

That was the lengthiest "don't bother me with the facts, I have my mind made up" post I recall ever seeing.

Another missive from the king of narrow minded broadcasters.

BTW: Samsung purchased alot of placement in Ocean's Thirteen. Ironically, they were aligned with the schumbag corporate "bad guy" ;)

That's a response which has no correlation whatsoever with what David said. I'm glad I don't walk around with a stick up my bum toward companies because I owned a product from them that didn't work well. Example... I've owned nearly a dozen Pioneer products over recent decades. The company made great tuners in the 70s and into the 80s. I had a fantastic in-dash Pioneer receiver in the early 80s. Then I had a "lemon" Pioneer in-dash unit, from a series of really crappy receivers they made through the mid-80s with horrid reception. A few years later, the Supertuners were back on top of their game.

As for these wonderful pieces of equipment from the 70s or 80s, most of the stuff I bought back then worked great at the time, but has been buried under rubble in the local dump for a long time.

My point is that I'm not buying from Samsung regardless of how much money they make. I pick and choose the products based on previous experiences and chances to see it in action in real environments (and not a showroom)

I'll give you an example. JVC probably has the best aftermarket car stereo tuners available today. Five years ago, the opposite was true as JVC was one of the last manufacturers to get serious about selectivity. Today I wouldn't give a dime for a Pioneer SuperTuner III-D, but the original was a solid performer for the time.

I prefer Yamaha for my home theater and Panasonic for my television. I have a Sony subwoofer and older redone EPI's (the wood makes it good) in the front and a Sony center with two smaller EPI's placed in the rear.

I am happy and it sounds damn impressive
