Traveling yesterday in NE Arizona between Kayenta and Tuba City searching for FM signals...I got a station called "YZ" from of all places - Bemidji Minnesota, and briefly an FM station from Oklahoma. Is the current heat wave causing FM signals to skip?

This is sporadic-E. It happens in upper layers of the atmosphere, well above areas affected by the heat wave. Exactly what does cause it is unknown.
