MISS 101's conflict of interest?

Ed M. is a fine example...another: Paul Harvey. He sounds as if he is very selective with his live reads, and he would (I believe) never duplicate a product. Perhaps that is why his credibility is so high.

Live remotes sold as exclusives? Please explain. You must not have very many car dealers. If you only did one per station. That's not the way we do it here in Meridian. Different market. I believe everyone on the air has done a remote at several different car dealers. You never explained about the recorded spots running on the stations, recorded by on air personalities, during their shows. They are not endorsing the spot. Please explain, you are not following through with your statement. Check out the smaller stations in town, every spot is voiced by the same person.

Let's use some common sense and look at an example: When Ed McMahon did an adlib commercial on the tonight show holding a product, you actually believe that he isn't endorsing the product? I'm on the road at the moment, but I'll dig up the FCC ruling on endorsements and ethics this weekend. I think you're going to be surprised.

Ethics rules apply to everyone in broadcasting no matter how big or small. Quote taken from a recent R&R articile on ethics: "The second pillar of importance to radio programming is trustworthiness. Simply stated, is there any implicit or explicit deception going on? It can be as basic as a DJ making a comment about a restaurant he went to. If he is saying he enjoyed a meal there, the listener hopes that is a spontaneous endorsement. What if it isn't? What if he gets free dinners there? Then he's violated the listener's trust. Candor, which is part of honesty, says, 'You need to tell me information that will affect how I receive your message.'"
