I heard "Tammy" on the local morning show, at the time when listener requests are played. I've never heard it on America's Best Music. And the local morning show tends to lean more oldies than America's Best Music does. So this was a real treat.
There was an AM station in the town where I used to live that played a format called "The Music of Your Life". It played mostly all of the non-rock songs from the 50's and 60's that were Top 40 hits.
I heard "Tammy" again yesterday. Instead of the most requested songs, the six-pack during the final half-hour of the local morning show had song with people's names. Other names were Romeo and Juliet and Dionne Warwick's "Message to Michael". I didn't hear all of them because I stopped to get gas and heard the song with the words "I'm gonna miss her" because someone there likes the classic country station and it's not best to leave the radio on in the car while getting gas.
