Missing stations in Lake Charles

Hello everyone, I used to be a resident in Lake Charles from 1988 to August 2000 and would listen to the radio quite often.

Upon my returning here in 2009, I am shocked to find out that most of the major radio stations in this town have vanished completely. (These radio stations being LA99, B104, KROK 92.1, and Crawfish 107.) To my knowledge, these stations were here even when I first moved to Lake Charles.

From what I can remember, the only radio station that is still active in Lake Charles is Kicks 96.

Can anyone fill me in of what has happened here?

LA99 moved to 92.9 "LA 92-9" which didn't last too long and was changed to classic hits "The Lake"
B104 downgraded signal and moved from 103.7 (to make way for Houston's 103.7 Jack FM) to 103.3 with a substandard signal given the ERP & height. It flipped to "Jack FM" about a year ago.
KROK 92.1's AAA format moved to 95.7 on a tower very near Fort Polk after 92.1 had an approval to move the tower into Westlake.
Crawfish 107--not sure what it was at the time (I was living in Lafayette). I know it has been urban for quite some time.

Hope this helps...

I miss Bayou 104. Listened to it alot when I was in high school.

Deregulation

If I remember Crawfish 107 (107.5 KJMH currently) couldn't compete with 96.1 and I believe 99.5 in country at the time and was flipped in 2000 (will have to research, but shows KVEE as a 2000 launch (and a flip to urban)
