Mission Impossible

Thanks to American Life network, the Mission Impossible series is on the air. In watching the series one thing has become clear. The early episodes were marvelous. Steven Hill was excellent in the role of Dan Briggs. The support cast was tremendous with Barbara Bain and Martin Landau. American Life does a fine job of keeping the episodes in order. You can actually watch the quality of the program go downhill as it ages and the cast changes.

It's too bad that American Life has so few systems picking it up. I believe many systems that had it lost it when Adelphia went down the tubes. The agreements were with Adelphia and weren't renewed when the systems were sold off.

Verizon here in Tampa Bay carries American Life. Some interesting programming including, what they call, The Color Honeymooners. The Gleason show from Miami Beach that features a live stage show of The Honeymooners. The signiture at the end of the show is Gleason, still in costume, holding a coffee cup and cigarette and yelling "How Sweet It IS" followed by his intorduction of the cast including Gleason bellowing OTTTT CONNIE (Art Carney)....and of course, "This is Johnny Olson speaking" over the theme music.

ALN seems to do better with some shows than others about showing the entire series. They may be showing all of MI, and I think they're showing all of Lost in Space and The Time Tunnel, but they seem to be stuck in the first couple of seasons of the MTM sitcoms on Monday nights. At least it was that way when I was able to get them.

Charter in Jackson, TN changed their Digital Home package (Basic and a few digital channels) to where ALN is no longer part of it. It's really no big loss to me though since the two main shows I watched (WKRP and 80's Newhart) are on WGN now.
