Mississippi AM's For Sale

Could be that if the broker wanted you to know, he/she would have posted the call letters on the website? Listings like those do not list calls for a reason...they are confidential, and meant to be released ONLY to those who are duly qualified potential buyers. Until you ARE a duly qualified potential buyer, why bother publically trying to speculate? It's frankly none of your business. Playing the guessing game like this only serves to make you lose credibility.

I have a right to guess and that's all I was doing.. guessing, sorry you got your knickers in a twist Wilkey.

*thwaps mogul*.... duly qualified I would assume means you prove you have the financial wherewithall to consumate the deal.

I think dully qualified in this case means that you don't know your ass from a hole in the ground... of which there appears to be an abundant supply of on this board.

uh, if im reading you right barber, YOu have it backwards.

Qualified means you DO know your ass from a hole in the ground.

i will agree with you that there are lots on here who don't.../

No, YOu're not reading right,Walker."Dully"qualified. Not "duly" qualified. There's a forest out there, and you're looking at trees. They do have trees where you live, don't they?

Looks like you struck a nerve, Paul! Tell me if I'm wrong, but this is a discussion board, right? A place where passionate radio people come to discuss radio related topics, happenings, and then speculate. You found these "confidential" stations listed "for sale" in a public place, so you have every right to discuss these listings in a public place. The owners/brokers of these two stations advertised their stations on the internet to get noticed and to drum up interest among qualified buyers. Well, they're getting noticed - the radio community is talking about them on a radio-info.com. Chances are many qualified buyers read this forum, so this board (speculation and all) serves as a great marketing tool for the sellers. Besides, I haven't seen any posts confirming the identity of these stations. So, it's all speculation and everyone reading this board knows it!

Anyone else with an educated guess on the identity of these stations? My guess for the 90k property is WQMS:

"Recently turned silent" - August 2005
"work is needed on tower and transmitter" - most recent remain silent authority paperwork states antenna problems as the reason.
"covers a good part of a larger market" - Meridian
Plus, it was purchased earlier this year at a fire sale price - maybe the owner thinks he can make a nice profit by simply selling the station.

Yeah I struck a nerve and some people got their "knickers" in a twist. I still FIRMLY stand by my original post and find nothing wrong with what I've done.

You might be right, it could be WQMS. However, WQMS will not cover much of any part of Meridian!(Typical broker, they lvoe to stretch the truth about the signal!!)

Gentlemen:
Show the brokers the money...tell them what you want...and it will appear...otherwise, don't waste your time or the space on the board..simple? Thanks

I don't believe we've wasted anyones time or the space on this board.

It is about radio that is located which is what this particular board is about, right?

oh, so now you're the Missisippi Board Thread Nazi, deciding what can be said and when the discussion ends?

Why talk about buying or selling radio stations when it's more fun to read the endless posts bashing Clear Channel or people who are so happy to be out of radio, they hang out on a radio board and tell us over and over how happy they are out of radio?! ::)

If I might add...don't forget the people who know so much more about how to run stations than the actual owners do.

Unfortunately in this day and age, the internet is making it easier and easier for people to get information and put two and two together. So if you really don't want people speculating about your property, don't put your listing on a website like BuySellRadio.Com

People are going to speculate whether it is on the board or off.... So what now are you going to start monitoring people's conversations to make sure they aren't wasting time or space wondering who it is??

So you brokers and you owners just better get used to it, because it is only going to get worse as information becomes more readily available.
