The ghost of Jeff Mazzei is currently doing Xmas countdowns from the 50s, 60s, 70s, and assumedly the 80s, each successive Sunday night on CBS-FM. These are really interesting because he is clearly taking either chart statistics or record sales to make his lists. So you hear what was really popular at the time, which is sometimes quite surprising. He's included lots of historical info, and added in the familiar songs that did not chart from each decade as "extras." The 50s countdown even had some 40s in it.
The glaring error, though, was when he reached Snoopy's Christmas, which was #1 for the 60s, the original Royal Guardsmen song was played, rather than the Christmas one. That one is just about Snoopy. This is still on the website - surprising nobody noticed.
Great countdown, anyway. Of course, I dread the 80s countdown with Grandma, but it's all quite fun and even educational!
