WAAF/Boston MD and afternoon drive personality Mistress Carrie has been honored by the U.S. Army with the Commander’s Award for Public Service for her live broadcasts from Baghdad and Kuwait in September 2006. During Carrie's trip, dubbed Boston To Baghdad, she became an embedded reporter with the Massachusetts Army National Guard and supplied daily news updates to WAAF, as well as enhanced public understanding of the National Guard’s mission and reunited Massachusetts soldiers with family members live on the air. General Oliver Mason, Major Winfield Danielson and Sergeant Jamie Gaiten all stopped by the WAAF studios on April 5 to present Carrie with the award.
“Mistress Carrie’s efforts are in keeping with the best traditions of public service,” said General Mason. “She is a credit to WAAF and the commonwealth of Massachusetts.”
The Commander's Award for Public Service is the fourth highest public service honorary award that may be granted to a private citizen. The award is given to recognize service or achievements that contribute significantly to the accomplishment of the mission of an Army activity, command or staff agency.

Congratulations, it may have been a self serving publicity stunt but it touched the audience and that is what counts most.
