Mitch Evans announced on his Facebook page last night that he was "done" at 92-9 The Game after 3 and a half years.
He was a little vague, but it sounded like this was not his decision. Rodney Ho wrote in his blog that Market Manager Rick Caffey said only, 'We made a change at night."
To me, letting Mitch go (if that was what happened) made as much sense as firing Fredi Gonzalez. (No manager could win games with that team.) Mitch was certainly fine for the 11PM-2AM shift. He knows his stuff and IMHO is a very good host. And I doubt his salary was breaking the bank. I admit there could be an internal reason I don't know about.
The only way this would make sense to me is if Mitch was replaced with a network or syndicated show that would cost the station no money. CBS Radio has been cutting around the country in preparation of being spun off into a separate company. But how much would the elimination of an 11PM-2AM salary save?
