Mitch Michaels...

Would be OK for a weekend shift, or overnights on LS-FM. Just don't quite see him doing a regular weekday shift.

Classy guy, though.
 
Does anyone have any background on him? I haven't heard of him before. I did listen to him today, and I like him, but not in any drive slot.

Last time someone besides JRL filled-in for Greg Brown, they were hired a short time later. I'm talking about Danny Lake, who is pretty good, and a LOT better than Scott Shannon. Since I haven't heard of Michaels, maybe he's a DJ that earns less than JRL or Fred Winston. I say this because in another thread some people have speculated, myself included, that Winston or Lujack may come to the station; and while that may be great, they obvisouly cost more then Michaels or Lake. So maybe this is what WLS will be doing.
 
Nice enough pipes, but sounded nervous as a cat in a rocking chair factory. I'd love to hear him loosened up and with his energy up a notch or two.

In fact, I'd jack up the enthusiasm up on the whole bunch, save Biondi. What ever happened to "up, bright, clean and tight?"
 
Mitch Michaels was one of the stalwarts of classic rock WCKG in the mid 80's (when it was good!). Always did well numbers-wise, and his Rock & Roll Diner on the road was a big hit. Prior to that, I think he was at the LUP.

Mitch has been on pretty much every rock station on the FM dial except WMET. Not only was he on the Loop in the 70's, he was Program Director for a time. Even spent some time on XRT.
 
The first time I met Mitch, he was on WLS-FM! It was in the early 1970s. (It might have been known as WDAI at the time.) He became XRT's afternoon guy a couple of years later, as soon as the station began coming on that early. (You may remember, XRT started out doing only overnights, and expanded bit by bit until it went 24 hours.)
 
I think he did a stint at WJOI-FM, now known as Q101.

His most famous stint was at WLUP-FM in the late-1970's. He did afternoon drive back when kids in black "Loop" shirts would roam ChicagoFest at Navy Pier. (I have just dated myself.) After being at 'CKG, he did some fill-in at the Loop under the Greg Solk Regime.
