Mix 100.7 New Lineup

If you thought it was bad before, listen now....
Nancy and (fill in name here) are STILL in mornings.
Moved John Tesh to middays (9-2) just like CC has done in other markets.
Shrinner (2-7)
and Kristy Knight is sent to evenings.

BAD move for what was the hotter or brighter AC in the market. Tesh is NOT a midday show for a station like Mix. What is wrong with these people? Just like with the rockers, Cox has got to be having field day with this.

As critical as I am of Mix, this actually makes some sense (although it won't fix what's truly wrong with the station-- being in a market oversaturated with 70s/80s/90s/new adult hits.

I think middays are a throwaway shift for a station like that. Most people then are listening to Mix because it provides nice noise at the office. Besides, I wasn't crazy about the girl they had on from 9 to noon. Even though I think John Tesh is horrible, the show itself is pretty harmless.

Shriner in the afternoons is good, and I bet Kristy is voice-tracked at nights. She'll provide a nice (albeit recorded) upbeat alternative to the wretched Delilah.

Still, this just sounds like the last act of a desperate station (or is it the first act of Henry the Fifth?) Mix's problem is going up against several stations that play similar music to what Mix plays. Consider this to be one last mix-up before the inevitible format change comes around.

I had my money on a July 4th flip. Maybe after six weeks of Christmas music in 2009?

Sounds like a good move except for Tesh. He doesn't belong on Hot AC. Mix was strongest with Larry London in PM drive and strong female personalities at night. Put somebody else middays and put Tesh overnights.

I still say they have a deal with Mega not to go there in Tampa, although this is pure speculation on my part. Remember all the shuffling they did to get to the 3 AMs they now own in the market.

They should cut a deal with the Rays to simulcast the rest of the season on Mix.

Kristy Knight is awesome and so is Shriner. They will do phenomenal.

Nancy is witty and very entertaining (women love her) and check out her website. New features quite awesome. Good chemistry with the listeners and knows what she is doing. Chris, her morning show co-host matches with her so much better than other co-host (like the one before "Jeff Moore"). Eventhough, Jeff was a family-guy, not a good fit for Nancy who is such a strong female behind the microphone. Nancy has a great audience who follow her.

Todd Tesh's move to middays I am sure will be much better than the girl they had there (Marion). His show is really really good. Remember, who is listening after 10am? The answer is people at work. Todd Tesh should draw big numbers in this new daypart. Marion just didn't have what it takes.

The audience is there. MIX go get'em!

So, what happened to spanish?

SPANISH? There's not that much $$$ out there as everyone thought at the beginning. Seems like now with the economy everyone is stretching their money as much as they can and when the tough get tough, cancellations come first with the Spanish station.

Yes, I am sure people listen, but the people are not the ones that pay the bills. The advertisers do.

You need to go where the money is. Maybe other markets do great with Latin formats, but Tampa seems to be cheap, cheap, cheap and wants things very cheap. Tampa is not the best market for more than one FM Latin station. New York, Miami, Texas .... oh yeah!!

"SPANISH? There's not that much $$$ out there as everyone thought at the beginning. Seems like now with the economy everyone is stretching their money as much as they can and when the tough get tough, cancellations come first with the Spanish station."

Which Spanish stations have been cancelled?

"Yes, I am sure people listen, but the people are not the ones that pay the bills. The advertisers do."

Advertisers go where the people are. If your opinion was correct, we would have several Classical, AAA, and Jazz stations in this market. As I mentioned in a previous post; I would love to see them go AAA. Right now I have to listen to the Wave on 107.3 HD-2.

Todd Tesh? Wait a sec. Did he not do a morning show with a guy name BJ?

No I must be thinking of Tony Fatso.

And Nancy speaking Spanish makes me want to drink. (Oh drinking and Nancy? What a mugshot)

Todd Tesh actually works better than John Tesh given his audience and ambience plus overall sound. He should change it.

You're collectively not looking at the big picture with CC. Syndication and voice tracking more and more and more and more and more... well, you get the drift. The Lee and Bain sale happens later this month. Big sweeping changes are a comin' and if you work for CC, keep that T & R fresh. :(

I thought it was Mason Clem and Tony Schnitt. Aren't both on vacation?

As far as a poster saying Tesh wouldn't work on a Hot AC...

It works in any format, check out the webstream for KJUL in Vegas www.kjul1047.com

They are an "adult sandards"/MOR station. They run Tesh at night. Basically, the segments are pre-taped and sent "dry" and the stations just shcedule these "breaks" around their local format.

Witht hat being said, it's still "plug and play" radio. Use a syndie show or just v/t from another market. It's a shame to have one less live show, but this is Cheap Channel we're talking about. They're in a world of hurt, just like the rest of this industry we all know and maybe sometimes love...

Maybe CC shoulda kept STAR instead of MIX. If they eased into a more Modern AC format with some AAA tossed in, then there would be much less duplication except with the lighter side of 97.1 who isn't that big of a player. They could bring back Starfest . From what I remember, STAR 95.7 had a more distint identity than MIX. CC took STAR 98.7 in LA from the third AC to alternative. If they programmed MIX as softer adult alternative and then rather than compete with Bubba on 98 Rock, the went music intensive with low key announcers who understood the music-----------like thay did back when alternative music was programmed like jazz might be. They could have each one compliment the other. Worse they could do is tank,
