660 WNBC Flipped to ESPN Sports

I don't recall the Fan ever being affiliated with ESPN Radio. ESPN is over on the old WHN/WEVD frequency, 1050 Khz, which is pretty crappy at night here on the central Jersey shore (CHUM in Toronto fades into it). I'd think the Disney boys would love to be on 660! Come to think of it, why don't they flip flop 1050 and 1560? Does anyone really listen to that Radio Disney drivel?

not sure....another question, is there any reason why WNEW-FM & WKTU-FM stay away from "white artist" ? I notice whenever they play Classic Hits is always from Motown or R&B...is there a reason why they do this ?

I don't think you're correct. Both KTU and WNEW play constant classic dance by white artists such as the Bee Gees, Madonna, etc....

Yes but not enough artist...Don't mind really mind R&B songs but it seems like the years 1972 to 1975 don't get played that much..its always pre-1972 or after 1975...being that Oldies is no longer it would be nice if one of the new classic hits stations would mix in some classic hits from artists like James Taylor, Carly Simon, Elton John, Paul Simon, the Carpenters; well maybe if we're good...

Yes, it was.

Before Disney bought 1050, ESPN was on the Fan. For many years.

There is NO format change contemplated at WNEW-FM. The "Classic Hits" points to rhythm classic hits. Stop looking for format changes under every bed. The "Movin" format is owned by another company. Best 102.7 can do is try to clone it. Listen to Movin. Listen to 102.7..not the same at this point.
The only thing that's "up" at 102.7 is clueless ownership. I can't find a dime's worth of difference between KTU and 102.7 Listeners must be a confused as they can be.

This is more of a reason why one of those two stations should flip to include such artists as I mentioned before...

re-reading post I should again mention that yes they do play white artists but they are usually from 1976 or later...I haven't heard any white artists pre 1976...

So the question is why not Carol King, James Taylor, Carly Simon, Paul Simon, etc. ?
They do claim to play classic dance music but why not Classic Gold ?

Because they are, currently at least, a classic dance station. The above mentioned artists do not fall under that category.

OK I'm only suggesting if a format change is to be made they could include such a format where such artists that are not getting any radio play...There are many Pop songs that even WLTW won't play...

I listened to them today out of curiousity and I found that they are going more toward Lite-Fm than KTU.

Just heard Hall and Oates-"Maneater", Belinda Carlisle-"Mad About You", Naked Eyes "Always Something There", Cher-"Its In His Kiss"..those songs are more AC than classic dance

They seem to be playing lots of upbeat songs by 'Lite' artists. For example, Lionel Richie's "Dancing on the Ceiling" (how long until they start playing "Truly" or "You Are")...and the Hall and Oates song "Maneater" (how long till they play "Youve Lost that Lovin Feeling)

It really sounds to my novice ears that they are moving towards challenging 106.7, more so than 103.5.
