Mix 102.7 Going All Christmas

Is it a bad thing if Mix 102.7 does go all Christmas Music on Nov. 1st until the day after Christmas? I don't think so, they just want to compete with 106.7 litefm which I am sure will go All Christmas.

You people must be fools if you really think Mix is going christmass music. The station is finally getting decent ratings and you think they will blow it for a stupid christmas format. ITs probably a holiday mix concert. DO i get free tickets for guessing correctly lol

Once again Infinity is not using their inteligence on this one. WNEW/Mix 102.7 should not be chosen for an all Xmas music format at all that is completely wrong. There's 2 stations Infinity can definitly chose an Xmas music format for WCBSFM or K-Rock. Jack on 101.1 is failing all the way no matter what. Now what they can do is put all Xmas music on 101.1 and play all of it from the 50s to now like the way CC does their xmas formats or do that with K-rock. Both stations 101.1 & 92.3 are in line for format changes and this is a great way to do it. If they chose WCBSFM for it, it can go from nov to december 26 12am then they can switch it back to Oldies which chances of that are very slim or leading into the talk format they want on 92.3 the xmas one could lead into that. WNEW does not need this or a format change at all, its starting to succeed in nyc plus Infinity's gonna make 102.7 go right down the drain which they should not be doing. If it's just a contest great, if not then 102.7 is in trouble in my opinion.

You do know, just because a station has increasing 12+ numbers doesn't mean its getting the demo's corporate wants or that their sales staff can sell easily to clients. Despite some people's dislike of the All-Christmas approach year after year hundreds of stations across the country switch to it and they usually make a killing as it usually equals a ratings boost and a sales windfall.<P ID="signature">______________

Re: Mix 102.7 Going All Christmas??

Maybe it will be both a huge contest with lots of prizes AND a Holiday concert where tickets can be obtained only by winning them.

Mix 102.7

That's right, Justin. It does usually end up being a big ratings and revenue bonanza for those who do it.

Besides- do we really KNOW 102.7's going All-Christmas so early? Maybe they're trying to force WLTW's hand- yet, if it works that well, why push them into it earlier than need be?

102.7 is doing a little better ratings-wise, but if I were them I'd still try and be first do "ho ho ho".

Yule Tunes (Was: Re: Mix 102.7)

Even if WNEW-102.7 does go all-Christmas, and is first to do it in New York, it might not have the all-Christmas format to itself for very long.

WLTW-106.7 will probably flip to all-Christmas within minutes of WNEW doing it. And if WPLJ-95.5 again goes all-Christmas and isn't first to do it in the Big Apple, they will probably flip within minutes of the first station in the market to do so. If 'PLJ is first, any other New York stations planning to go all-Christmas may well follow suit within minutes.

Don't be surprised if WLTW, and/or WPLJ, and/or WNEW (the latter two if they decide to do it; I think WNEW's "early Christmas" might end up being a contest and not a flip to 24/7 Christmas music) take the plunge next Tuesday (November 1st).
