Mix 102.7 needs to play songs that separate it from Lite & KTU

Lite-FM isn't as "lite" as it used to be and plays about 50% of Mix's playlist.

KTU has combatted Mix's "classic dance" claim by playing more disco and oldie R&B.

These are good signs that Mix is making an impact. However, they need to jump at the opportunity to separate themselves from the Lite & KTU by playing songs that neither of those stations play.

C'mon Mix programmers! Step it up and really throw them for a loop!

I think Mix should continue what they are doing, which is focusing on classic dance. Apparently it is impacting the minds over at Clear Channel (they own KTU and Lite) and they're worried. They shouldn't do any major changes now since they are doing better and better.
______________

KTU should go ALL current dance

MIX is at least very focused and should stay the course. People are really starting to tune in as of late. Ratings are on the rise.

KTU on the other hand has NEVER been very focused. They are all over the place.
A format that in my opinion will eventually back fire.

LITE is hard to touch. You can't really touch market number 1's number 1 station!
______________

I think MIX should focus on 80s&90s freestyle dance. That was some great music. Anyone remember Hot 103/97?

I agree. KTU has a younger audience and should just stick to current dance and their little forays into playing hip hop.

I wish MIX would dig deeper into the crates and for example play songs by Donna Summer (one of their main artists) that neither KTU nor LITE play.

Also, "classic dance" is a broad term. Disco heads gradually became New Wave heads, so MIX could afford to play more New Wave. Yaz, ABC and New Order are nice representatives but there's more radio-friendly music where that came from. I suggest this because there are days where I dislike MIX sounding so LITE-ish. More 80's R&B and bits of crossover house would further distance them from their rivals.
