Mix 1037

In Richmond, how long has 103.7 FM been known as "Mix 1037". How long have they been AC? Thanks for any info.

I am just wondering out of curiosity. It's a bad station though. Boring jocks reading liner cards and the station is always talking about the 2 Hour at work kick off. Plus they play the same crap day in and day out. How many times can you hear the Dave Matthews Band? <P ID="signature">______________

103.7 has been AC since the early 80's, first as a Soft AC and then gradually getting so hot they were treading close to a CHR format. When Lite 98 appeared in the nineties and beat them consistently, they went to Modern AC and then for some reason went to what they are now. If you listen to WSB-FM in Atlanta and Magic 94.9 in Tampa, you will hear the exact same liner cards used. The three stations are absolute clones, excepy Magic does better than the CC property in Tampa and WSB is usually in a close tie with the CC AC in Atlanta.

They are all owned by Cox. Cox stations seem to be run the same everywhere. No jingles, liner cards, and the exact same imaging. Cox stations in Richmond like K-95 and The Planet may show some more creativity, but generally Cox runs jukeboxes with no jocks like WDUV in Tampa, or keeps any individuality to a minimum. I'm surprised that Cox even replaced Dick Hungate with voice tracking.Usually midays at a Cox station are jockless.

Believe it or not, I like CC and Infinity better! Most Cox stations are REAL boring. 97.3 The Coast in Miami is one example I heard.

Mix 1037 COULD be a good station if they updated their playlist. They are playing the exact same music they played over a year ago. They are a little differently musically than lite 98 because they play more current music and I think thats a good thing, but they need to add some different songs to their library quick or the numbers will continue to go down.

Star 99.9 in Connecticut is another of Cox's cloned AC stations. I think they sounded much better about a year ago, before they brought in the "Soft and Contemporary" slogan, and they dropped the jingles.

Mix 1037 is a joke, BORING BORING BORING W/ NO PLAYLIST....it has only about 20 songs on it for an AC !!!!
