Mix 104.1 production Quality

Lately I've been noticing several production snafu's on the station. The last 2 was A) This morning while playing Adele and then out of nowhere, the station went off the air. It came back on the air and a few moments later the song came back on.

B) During its public service programming, Mike Delany was interviewing a reporter talking about the Middle East. While she was talking a commercial just suddenly came on cutting her off!

I notice most of these technical issues happen overnight and on the weekends. Another issue I have noticed in recent memory is 1-2 seconds of dead air after songs being played overnight. Now this seems to have improved.

Now is this all happening because of an inexperienced board operator or is it a computer problem instead?

From what you describe, most likely a computer issue. You'd be surprised how many studios are unattended during non-live hours.

I'm surprised this is happening on a station of this caliber. Back in the day, we strove to have our stations sound their best 24/7, regardless of daypart or what was airing.

They have board ops when they do not have live jocks. Sounds like they are simply asleep at the wheel.
