Mix 104.1

Just for the record,... I saw a billboard on Jefferson Highway with an old "MIX 104.1 KHOM" logo on it! The black with yellow and pink lettering advertisement is right after Causeway Blvd. on the left if you're heading towards Ocshner Medical Center.

It so caught me off guard. Obviously, Hurricane Katrina ripped other advertisements off and left that one. Whatta hoot! If you spot it suddenly, you'd think they were coming back or something!!! LOL

I wish they could come back. They were a cool station back in the 90s.

"...and the countdown continues until the neanderthals that govern college football do something about their pathetic postseason."--Tim Brando, Sporting News Radio</P>

That billboard has been up since 1995. The station was fun. One day the owner called me into the office and said his wife turned on the station while exercising with here friends and was dismayed regarding the sexual content of songs like Boom, Boom, Boom and others. He then asked if we'd lose ratings by not playing these songs? To which I replied, probably so. The owner asked again, are you sure? I believe so, I said. The owner then said, if that is the case, I will tell my wife not to listen to the station anymore.

Supposedly this was one of the toughest owners to work for. However, he welcomed the station's success.

Then, Clear Channel's Earnest James ****ed everything up once the station was purchased.

Yeah KHOM was unique and original. Its too bad we don't see stations like that anymore.

BTW who owns that billboard space? I hate to see it torn down.

Ah yes, 'twas a great station. I worked there in the Clear Channel days... right after the move to Howard Avenue. By then, the station started to suck, as B97 re-formatted and took back the CHR audience.

I keep in touch with some of the former Mix'ers... they're all doing well... scattered about the country.
