Mix 106.7

I think Mix plays a great variety of music from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. I really think their imaging needs an overhaul though. They should use the same imaging that sister Citadel station WMGS/92.9/Wilkes-Barre (Magic 93) uses. WMGS's imaging is the same as the now defunct Sunny 104.5/Philadelphia, and I was a big fan of their imaging. It was a very upbeat and lively presentation. Mix's presentation is pretty bland and boring. But, on a positive note, the station keeps me listening because of their music selection.

I have to agree with Magnum. For all of the put-downs MIX gets on this board, they're a pretty decent station. I wouldn't mind working on a station like MIX. One thing, though, they need to back off on the "Bewitched" twinkle efx; the first day I heard that I grew tired of it.

Uh Oh... When Hellskitchen sees this, blood will run like water in the streets. :)

Nope, actually that is one person's opinion, just as I have mine about The Rose. Granted I believe my Rose is just the best in the WORLD, it is a shame for MIX to have to compete against them, but I give Central PA stations credit for going against the best!!! :) :) :)

Also, I agree with Magnum, I LOVED the sound of Magic 93 FM and their presentation. Magic USED to be my favorite radio station until last year when I finally gave The Rose a chance and boy I am glad I did. Magic was most of the time on in my car and house whenever I did things. Of course, I lived in NEPA, in the Scranton area. I loved my times in NEPA and Magic is the best Citadel station in PA. I used to also like the sound of Froggy 101.3, The Rose's cousin to the North. Although, I have to say The Rose definitely has a much better coverage signal than Froggy. I remember going out to Hazleton and I would get just a little south or west of it, The Rose would come and interfere with their signal, (the same goes for Colunbia County and also Carbon County) and still to this day Froggy 101.3 is centralized to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton proper. I only listened to Froggy on occasions to hear artists like Joe Nichols, SHeDAISY and Toby Keith and I was also pretty cool with Mike Krinik. I was "phasing" myself out of country music and I can say that happened altogether in 2003 when I moved to DE.

I still listen to them online with their 70's and 80's at night when The Rose goes to Delilah (she is terrible!) and also when I get tired of listening to WPLJ's same music, but most of the time I like Christine Richie (hell I wish she was on The Rose at night!)

BUT.... No other station in my opinion will touch the greatness of The Rose, even at Magic's best, they still weren't as good as 101 The Rose.

So Magnum, enjoy MIX!

I listen to Magic 93 on occasion. I also like their "70s at 7" and "80s at 8". It's certainly something that's different to listen to on the radio these days! I travel to York, PA frequently and tune into 101.3 The Rose. I think they're better than Warm 103. That's really cool that they do an all 80s Friday! I also like their all 80s weekends and Whatever weekends. Scooter Fortney, that's funny that you brought up the "Bewitched" twinkle effects on Mix 106.7 because I wanted to mention that in my original post. They are really annoying. Like I said, even though they have a great music selection, they need an imaging overhaul. Magic 93's jingle package would sound great on Mix (or any AC station, for that matter!).

Mix should go back to country and kick butt in Harrisburg. That is what they did best although Citadel probably could not pull it off. They have not done a format right there yet.

I think mix sounds alot better than it was when it was cool pop. I also think they have a solid full time air staff.

First time we went home after Z-107 switched over to "Cool Pop" I couldn't believe that they thought Lancaster Co. could put up with a station like that. I guess next time I'm back your way I should check them out and see what Mix 106.7 sounds like. I didn't even know it changed formats again until reading this.

YOU CAN SAY THAT AGAIN MAGNUM!!! I am glad you see the HUGE difference between my Rose and WARM 103.

Anyways, I am glad you tune into the 80's Friday, I wish I could be at their 80's party at the Clipper Magazine Stadium tonight!!

Magic 93 is a pretty good station. For some reason, I like the 70's at 7 better than the 80's at 8, it could be because I hear the 80's on The Rose. I think the 70's is more different than the 80's. Scranton is also a nice area, at least I thought it was, I have heard so many negative things about it which is sad.

BTW, I did hear Cool Pop before I was hooked on The Rose and I have to say it wasn't as good as the new MIX. Whenever I am in Lancaster, York or Dauphin counties and my Rose plays the occasional bad song like Anna Nalick's (Breathe 2AM), I put on MIX. I would never listen to 103.3 or 104.1.

Gotta agree with the Vetguy on this one!...Go back to some form of country or put RED on that big stick!
BOB is just sitting there complacent as the ONLY game in town. Mix may be a "decent" station, but they have too big of an AC hill to climb to compete with the winners in that category that are already established in the marketplace...Do they really expect to climb over The River, Wink, The Rose and even Warm, Wsox, The Peak?
Those stations own the AC battle...

Citadel tried to beat Bob 94.9 in the late '90s and early '00s, simulcasting 106.7's
programming on 102.3. The plan wasn't a longterm success, if at all.

I did airshifts on this station during 1999; exiting a music sweep was a mouthful:
"The new Cat Country one oh six point seven, one oh two point three..."

Anyone know what ever became of Cat Country 106.7/102.3's PD, Sam McGuire?

And what about Dan, the previous PD who was shifted to a Citadel Oldies outlet?
