Back to the original thread...any idea how the Mix PD search is going?
 
WQIC not upgrading to 6000 watts could have to do with another factor. They are short-spaced with Class-B WODE, The Hawk at 99.9 in Easton. Back in the early 90's under Lincoln Zeve's ownership, he attempted to get 6kw for WHYL-FM 102.3. We were told we couldn't get it because we were too close to WRFY in Reading at 102.5. We needed to be 70 miles apart and we were only 65 miles. The only way it would be granted was if the then-owners of WRFY gave us a waiver. They basically said "go pound sand, we aren't giving up even a square inch of coverage." They would have lost about 1/4-mile in the Grantville area. WQIC and WODE look to be about 60 miles apart on the Radio Locator maps.
 
My understanding, and granted it was 2nd hand info, was that the upgrade was offered and refused. They may have had to use a directional antenna, I don't know. That's an interesting little operation over there, I'd think it's gotta feel like 1980 there, and that may not be a bad thing....wonder if Ed Burrows is still GM there? Helluva nice guy.
