MIX 1065

Does anyone think that CBS will flip MIX to a more mainstream or rhythmic CHR? CBS needs to do something with MIX. Their current format is getting eaten alive by Z1043 and MIX has a much stronger signal than 1043. If they added a more rhythmic sound to it then they would be able to compete more with Z1043 and 92Q.

Maybe with the return of the "HFStival" this fall, 106.5 will become the fourth reincarnation of WHFS by then... you never know...

What are you talking about? Mix is ahead of Z. Why would they want to change anything? As they are I think they are a very mainstream HotAC, more so than PLJ in NY.

The title that displayed on my HD radio during a commercial break was "Baltimore's #1 Hit Music Station MIX 106.5 Listen online at mix1065.net" That just screams CHR.

The best thing CBS can do with 106.5 is to swap the HD1 and HD2 formats :)

CBS will never flip MIX to a full-fledge CHR. CBS radio does not want a CHR. The name CHR has never bode well with agencies, etc. Plus, MIX is not worried about Z104.3. 104.3's numbers are too young and will never amount to major success.

CBS had a CHR (B102.7) and blew it up. It had decent ratings, but they do not want to sell a CHR.

Mix 106.5 is definitely a CHR/Pop outlet. They play Far East Movement's "Like A G6" and have recently added "we No Speak Americano" by Yolanda Be Cool. The Americano song hasn't even been added yet by most of the country's CHRs, but was a huge hit this summer around the world.
Oh yeah and in the latest PPMs Z-104.3 is ahead of Mix 106.5 both in cume and in share. Looks like an all out CHR competition is brewing...with the same exact frequencies that did CHR in Baltimore during the mid 80s

Z104.3 is only ahead of MIX in the 12+. Z104.3s demo still skews too young. They are doing well with 12-24. 25-54, MIX is kicking their butt. As it stands, WLIF and WWMX are on a constant battle for the top 3 in the 25-54.

I really don't understand CBS - they went after the CHR format (with a Hot AC station), which worked at first cause there was no CHR in Baltimore, but since a real CHR was launched the ratings have been going down (from 5.4 to 4.5 since the summer)

Is there some reason they're not considering a regular Hot AC format?

Doesn't the post above yours kind of answer that question?

Mix 106.5 is doing really well 25-54... the money demo. Why mess with that?

Cause their ratings keep going down (5.6 in June, 4.2 in November) - they're turning their station into a CHR, and listeners (apparently) are being turned off

BTW, anybody notice how extremely dayparted this station is? It's sounds very Hot AC during the day, but totally a CHR at night. They are running the risk of creating an identity crisis.

Lol this is true...I don't know too many Hot AC's that play "Bottoms Up" by Trey Songz & Nicki Minaj

well 2 possibilities to Jason replacement. Either Priestly move from nights to pm drive or Albie Dee. He has the most programing experience as well as pm drive success.
