Mix 92.3 Signal Question

Anyone know why Mix 92.3's signal is so bad now? It was barely audible the other day in Boutte. I used to be able to pick it up in Lafayette.

Thanks.

I don't know if you know or if someone on the board knows or wishes to comment but, with all of the problems they are having, are Citadel and Clear Channel keeping up their equipment and towers or are they trying to defer maintenance as long as possible?

What about the standalones, WIST and WGSO?

Thanks.

From the word I've heard on the street from some contract Engineers are most of them hold off until it breaks or gives them fits before they go out to repair, not much maintained anymore.

Most towers are owned not by the stations anymore as they are leased from companies that do tower business only, and those are periodically inspected but usually wait for a bulb to burn before they go out...

Thanks again.

Bad signal again today (Saturday 1/23) for Mix 92.3. Breaking up in Old Metairie and Old Jefferson. Even worse than the crappy signal, they were playing "Rio" by Duran Duran! It's not bad enough that Jim Hanzo is on the air but, Duran Duran!

I was just getting ready to ask about this station, when low and behold, someone already beats me to it. ;)

They've been working on the tower lights on the big Vacherie stick; perhaps 92.3 is/was on the backup.

My question is: aren't they ALWAYS working on the tower lights or something on this thing? The lights are NEVER right and it just seems to me that this thing is nothing but a big headache. The lights near the bottom are working, but as you visually ascend the tower, the ones in the middle are very dim and the top is completely off. Witnessed that myself yesterday evening. But I don't guess that can be any worse than the KGLA-TV tower in Chalmette. That tower hasn't had a light lit on it (day or night) since Katrina. Isn't there a violation going on there?

Anywho, I had to make a trip up to the BR area to visit relatives earlier today and I thought it was strange to hear 92.3 have a weak signal in the Luling/Boutte area. What's odd was, by the time I got down Hwy 3127 (near the Vacherie schtick), 92.3 was about gone; almost nonexsistant. 104.1 was fine. Are they using that back-up antenna & transmitter on top of the Capital One building in downtown N.O. again?

I do know that one weekend back in late January, they had the MAIN and a BACK-UP transmitter on at the same time and the signals were fighting. What a weird experience that was!!! Then about two/three weeks ago, the main was back up and I caught them doing some processing adjustments. They set it back to the "master blaster" setting and it was kinda nice!

What gives with all the inconsistantcies?

Jeremy

Someone actually cares about 92.3 ?
They have had NO ratings for so many years why should they worry.
They just don't need to spend any more money for their 10 listeners.

Last time I heard them they were playing Sweet child of Mine and I was like....huh????

I find Citadel in New Orleans and in Baton Rouge has been having issues with trying to capture a good format aimed at white listeners (I know other races listen, but no real way to put what I wanted to say) . If 92.3 should go Hot A/C they should do a better job of going after that market than the haphazard way as of late.

I think so, but it still pulls from some of it's Diva playlist and I find when they get to playing songs on 92.3 they are already off the charts...Sort of how 104.1 is with new rock.

104.1 is so stale and 92.3 hasnt had a signal booming in up here in weeks..............seems to me the vacherie tower is a broadcasters nightmare and wasteland.
