Mix 92-9 -- playing older songs they never used to?

http://www.yes.com/#WJXA

I think they've played "Tainted Love" by Soft Cell 4 or 5 times this week. This morning they played "Get Down Tonight" by KC and the Sunshine Band. Recently heard other 80's songs like "Addicted to Love" , "1999", and Journey's "Wheel In The Sky" ...?? Although not "drastic" changes (haven't heard "We're Not Gonna Take It" by Twisted Sister) :0 seems like they're playing stuff they never used to.

Rocked with "I'll Melt With You" this morning about 7, too. Last week, I told you guys that 92.9 was
rockin' more than Lightning 100 these days, after David Hall RY got pre-empted with con-sultants . Next thing
you know, "West End Girls" will be playing and Mix will have a 10 share. Alas, Christmas is just around the corner.

Rock on Mix 92-9... Rumour has it even Sarge has been spotted Dancin' on the Ceiling! :D

P.S. -- According to sources ... "Escape" is safe.

Perhaps the shift in music is to pickup some of the V-102.5 listeners that liked the 80's. While the audience according to arbitron was small, those listeners are looking for a home. A smart move on the part of Mix.

I noticed a couple of years ago that they started playing oldies once we no longer had a full-time oldies affiliate here in Nashvegas! I've heard "Can't Buy Me Love" and "Let It Be" by the Beatles, and "RESPECT" by Miss Aretha. Now if they would just pick up on the syndicated programming that we lost when V-102.5 made their ill-fated decision. I would love to hear the old AT-40s once again, and a return of the "Velveeta Lounge" would be nice, too! ;D I really enjoyed hearing those old '80s dance mixes segued together! If 92.9 picked that up, they would be at least the third station in Nashville to do so, after V-102.5 and Star 97.

I don't care about "Escape," but I'd rather hear that than to be force-fed "In the Air Tonight" for the 4,732nd time! ::) And yes, 92.9 will leave my presets on Thanksgiving, and not return until December 26th!

Tibbs, how much longer will loyal 100.1 listeners put up with all of that consultant tweaking? To me, it is yet another example of how bad radio can get. I am not saying that all radio is bad, but is this too much tweaking?

I can't help but think of the rather insulting term that the famous free form KLOS FM rock DJ Jim Ladd uses to express utter and complete disdain for this over consulting. Ladd calls them "format bitches". LOL

Does that mean that somebody, somewhere is dusting off " A tender Tennessee Christmas" and getting that thing ready to roll? ::)
