Mix 94.1 PD fears Area 108 KVGS

Listening lately to the new Area 108 online and liking what I've heard, I found out that Mix 94.1's PD has turned a bit yellow and added more 90's to his playlist.

Area 108 will be getting a repeater planned on one of the strip casino's by New Year! This will help Area cover the Valley and Mix will fall in ratings. With Area 108 being the new home to the Killers, RHCP, Franz Ferdinand, Cake, Green Day, Nickleback and many many more of Mix's artist, Mix needs to figure out what they are gonna do to keep listeners on their station. I remember Edge 102 back in the 90's. I hear the people in the Valley miss that station and have wanted it back for some time. If Area plans on being anything close to what EDGE was, Mix will be in trouble.

Radio truely has changed in Las Vegas and finally Mix has some competition!
______________

GB, BTW, good call on bringing the doghouse back to bay area radiowaves!!! I just moved to LV from the bay area, and I tend to like LV radio better than SF radio byfar. Pretty sad considering SF is #5 in the whole country. BUT, I feel that LV still needs a CHR, for such a party town!!! given it's history of low ratings, I'll keep holding my breath!!:)

Hey snapperhead, It was Mix and Xtreme coming on the air that sqeezed every bit of life out of The Edge (103.5).

While Area could affect Mix, I don't believe that it will take them down. Actually, I think that Xtreme has more potential to lose listeners. Between losing Howard in a week and declining ratings overall outside of Howard's dayparts, Xtreme may have to do some tweaking. Maybe the kids (Xtreme's listeners) are tired of being angry all the time.

Thanks! I was selling to Infinity and My boss said something was up at the new station and thought the Doghouse was to be on Mornings. Only because his wife works for Live 105 and had first hand knowledge of the Doghouses lawyers in talks with the PD's and Gm of the stations there.

I'll say this, one thing I've learned in the radio biz; Never believe a rumour unless dollars are being spent in one direction. Since the Doghouse is such a powerfull and recognized name in the city, Infinity would be stupid to let them be picked up by the competition no matter what the format is. What is going on in Vegas? I've heard so many rumours. Is Mix really adding more 90's songs in rotation and did extreme change to more of a rock format rather than hard alternative? Area 108 is going to kill them if they get a transmitter upgrade in the next month or two with the latest rumours. We all will have to wait and see what happens!
One more thing to note; If Infinity doesn't lock a deal with the Doghouse in the next 9 weeks, look for Elvis and JV to be picked up on KFOG or on another SF station by the end of the year. A few contracts are near the end for a few morning shows and sales have dwindled on those stations for national spots. I would speculate and morning show change is in the works at KFOG or Energy
______________
