Mix 94.1

I thihnk about every other station in this world named "Mix" and none are as good as KMXB Mix 94.1 in Vegas. If only every market had a station like that! Does anyone else think it's that good? Not even Star 102.7 lasted against it!

No one has ever tried to compete with MIX...They all do it half-witted. If someone knew how radio works, MIX would be in serious trouble. As bad as KISS sounded here, they took MIX to their lowest level ever. NOW should have gone after MIX and been one of TWO stations instead of being one of 5 choices on the dial....HOT and KLUC have airstaffs 24/7....NOW is destined for failure....As long as MIX doesn't have a direct competitor, they will continue to do well.

Mix actually sounds good and takes the lead with some good new music picks. I don't see what's glaringly wrong with it.

My guess is that the only reason NOW doesn't have an airstaff yet is that Beasley has known all along they were going to sell it.

I agree. MIX is one of the best Hot ACs in the U.S for new music. (personally my favorite current they are playing is Carolina Liar "Show me what I'm looking for). In fact if you like current music, most other Hot ACs would be downright boring.

That being said, vegasradio does have a point. Part of the reason KMXB does so well is they serve as both a Hot AC and default mainstream CHR. If this market had a real Top 40/Pop it would fragment MIX to some degree. It will be interesting to see if NOW moves more pop when Silver State takes over.

say goodbye to that #1 spot.

I saw your anti MIX post on Friday night. I find all those Nickelback soundalike artists to be boring as well. Still, besides the fact that you don't like the station, you didn't give any reasons on why they will go down. Why now?

If anything they are going to get even bigger with PPM. Hot AC thrives with PPM. Look at WTMX (THE MIX)/Chicago. They just did OK in the diary and now they are huge with PPM, #1 25-54 with a share that keeps getting bigger each month. There are several other examples.

What it would take to damage KMXB is for a station to flip to a mainstream CHR with an adult lean that plays some Hot AC product. A station like KRBE/Houston or WSTR/Atlanta.

I have a feeling that will be the direction Ed Stolz will take NOW, based on what he's doing in Palm Springs.

Well considering PPM obviously doesn't count minorities and Mix doesn't target any, that's not a difficult prediction. Any guesses on if PPM will make it to Vegas? seems like they are losing steam. With Congress now fully involved and a Fall deadline, seems highly unlikely.
