Mix 96.9

Anyone else notice the quiet transition from Hot AC to Modern AC? They’ve removed the poppier titles and are focusing on pop/alt product on the current side and the gold side. So instead of boy bands and Rihanna, they’re playing Weezer, Linkin Park and Radiohead. This makes KDKB their new direct competitor instead of KMVA.

Thoughts?

Its not one or the other. Its both. So they're playing Blink-182, Outkast, and Maneskin with Harry Styles and Taylor Swift.

They just added the new Jelly Roll song, and the Post Malone duet with Morgan Wallen is their top spinner. The Post song is also #1 this week in country.

I don't know any grown-ups who listen to KDKB. Anyone who likes Weezer, Linkin Park and Radiohead (and specifically non-"Creep" Radiohead) is most likely listening to KWSS-LP if they are listening to the radio, and if it's their goal to cut into KDKB's shares, that's a stupid idea because 94.5 will inevitably be playing all of those, anyway. Why can't a town this size get a cooler *commercial" station?

Depends on what you mean by ''grownups.'' KDKB is # 1 18-34, and #2 18-49. Those people are grownups by most definitions.

The problem with Hot AC is the pop music situation now is in a big hole. You can see that with pop radio ratings. So drawing on that music isn't going to get you anywhere. They'd be better off doing a Y2K country format. In this case they're taking classic alt, which will peal off the older part of KDKB.

What would that be? In some places, like Chicago, classic alt serves that purpose.
